I was 15 and yeah, I miss those days...we were consistently playing good OOC schedules back then...during the 70's and 80's, we were regularly scheduling teams like USC, Nebraska, Penn State, and Notre Dame...and usually at least 2 of 'em a year...miss those days...
I remember watching this game on TV...our QB (Jeff Rutledge) only threw 5 INTs that year and everyone of 'em came in the Nebraska game and we lost by a touchdown...ultimately cost us the national championship; ND won it all in '77, even though their one loss was to an Ole Miss team that we readily handled earlier in the season...
Also remember UK's team from that year...they were legit and had a top 5 finish nationally...Art Still (1st rounder and all-pro with KC) was a stud on D and Derrick Ramsey was a very underrated QB (played several seasons as a TE for the Raiders)...it's a shame that probation kept them from a bowl that year 'cause they could've played with anybody in '77...

I was 25 years old and Kentucky was on probation that year if I remember correctly.
Fran Curci had them going - but he was cheating his arse-off on the same level as Danny Ford did at Clemson a few years later and Phil Fulmer did at Tennessee even later in the 90s.
I wanna say Curci was invited to the White House by Gerald Ford for something, I cannot remember what ... but the democrats jumped on Ford for inviting a cheater to the White House, I do remember that. They really made a big deal out of it.
ETA: So how old were you Cheese? You're not playing your own game?

That was the year I was born, so I would have been a few months old. So I can't say I remember this.

I was a freshman at UK. Won the NCAAA tourney that spring. Pretty good freshman year.

I was a lad of 24. Living in Canada, on the run from the law.

That's true, but it's still better than playing FCS schools like everyone does today...both Louisville and Miami, as well as FSU, didn't start coming into their own until the late 70's/early 80's...and then Louisville regressed again until Schnellenberger arrived...
Still though, that year we played 2 OOC away games at traditional P5 power schools (USC was #1 at the time; I think Nebraska finished in the top 20)...that never happens anymore...
