do not object to Saban giving this guy a shot to turn his life around and make something of himself. Most people who do were only concerned about the image of the program and not the life of the young man in question. He screwed up, however, and was apparently on a short leash. It sucks for the kid but he had his chance and blew it.
You do realize this about domestic violence, right? Not smoking pot or something. "Sucks for the kid"? How about sucks for the chick he beat up?

So unless you have somebody doing big-time intervention with them with a lot of psychological counseling over a period of years, you are going to get this. In my opinion, what Alabama was hoping is within the structure and protection of Alabama, that nothing would be reported. And that's a very different thing. I'm not surprised this happened again. I'm surprised the arrest became public."

Why is Saban so desperate? He has signed the number 1 class the last several years... Yet he lets Pettway back on the team after he stands by and watches bama students get knocked out and then robs them...(how would you feel if that was your kid that was knocked out?). Then he lets Taylor on the team that beat the hell out of gf... Both of these are very violent crimes that has no regard to human life, yet Saban is taking a chance on them.. I think this sends the wrong signal out to the world about college football about violent offenders... The university should be investigated and held accountable..

Bill Battle Statement.
"Representing this University is a privilege that none of us can take for granted," Tide athletic director Bill Battle said in a statement. "As I noted in my comments when the decision was made to allow Jonathan Taylor to attend the University on a football scholarship, I believe in second chances. I still do. However, being successful in that second chance requires responsibility and accountability. In Jonathan's situation, the University and the Department of Athletics set forth very clear standards of accountability and expectations of conduct.

I didn't really expect Saban to admit remorse or responsibility for allowing this kid in, but I didnt expect him to completely sidestep his part in it either. Hopefully President Bonner and Bill Battle's statements will be better.

College athletics are causing people to accept absolute disgusting behavior in the name of winning. And im not pointing just at bama fans, it comes from everyone

Charges:
domestic violence third-degree criminal mischief
the defendant commits the crimes of third-degree assault, menacing, reckless endangerment, criminal coercion, harassment, criminal surveillance, harassing communications, third-degree criminal trespass, second- or third-degree criminal mischief, or third-degree arson.
Are you really trying to minimize the acts of someone who has been charged more than once with domestic assault?

Also, where did you get that list of charges? They're not consistent with a minor bruised or scratched neck and a hole in the closet door!

I do not think it is feigned indignation. It has nothing to do with the school he plays for. This is not the FIRST time he has been charged with domestic violence. A pattern of such domestic violence often escalates. I taught one kid who had to watch his abusive stepfather murder his mother in front of his eyes. I also taught a student who was killed by gunshots from his mother's boyfriend when he tried to intervene as that guy was beating on both his sister and mother.
