I'm shocked.
Fact is Alabama fans, as a whole, are no more, or less, classy than any other. Every fanbase is 80-90% decent and 10-20% a-holes.
I mean, I've been to every venue in the SEC sans Vanderbilt (most multiple times) and seen many of the traditional powers, and our graduate/money people always seen to behave well and interact with opponents. Especially teams like Ohio State. I can't even count how many "tell me more about your league" "tell me more about your stadium" etc etc conversations I heard on Bourbon Street, walking into the game, etc.
And I didn't use the word "classy". That word is ridiculous and overused. I used the word good-natured.

That letter reeks similar to the Auburn letter after the Georgia game in Sanford.

Again, this describes every fanbase in the SEC. We're on the same page here. Every fan is going to claim that they've seen their fellow fans treat opponents well, for the most part.
It's the 10-20% that try to make opposing fans miserable that give us all a bad name.

Agree. If everyone who attended SEC games graduated and were "money people", football games in this league would be a lot more boring.
Thankfully, there is no shortage of uneducated, non-money people in the Southeast

Probably so, we just seem to get tagged for it a little more than most groups.

Well, to be fair, that minority of the Bama fanbase does seem to get popped for stupid shite more often than the rest. To make it worse, they are always wearing Alabama gear and/or yelling roll tide at the cops/media.

For all the trolling I've done on here about Bama, I mostly agree with the OSU fans.
It's just that the negative events and fans get sensationalized and put on a pedestal for some reason, when we all know that they are but a very small percentage of a fan base that probably numbers over a million.
That holds true for other large state university fan bases as well.
No one ever talks about the 90-99 % of fans who are just plain fans and don't commit some of the bizarre indiscretions that the very few do.
We (including I) shouldn't let a few bad eggs ruin our experiences with other fan bases. In general I am a glass half-full kinda guy, I just have to translate that more to my SEC counterparts :)
Maybe the start of the new year is the best time for that.

People are appreciative of flawless diamonds, too, and for the same reason:
They're almost impossible to find.

FRICK Metry, you're the champion of rational posts for the new year so far

What's most interesting in this thread is to still see aTm sucking up to Bama fans.
Bama is the pretty girl that kissed (lost to) the dork once and now they've become Bama's slaves and biggest defenders. It barely makes sense.

Bama fans are the most obnoxious entitled fan base around... Other than LSU probably
The only funny part of this comment was that only 1 of us has the right to feel entitled.
You'll figure it out...

To be fair, the best fans from both sides travel to bowl games. I was at the '07 NCG in Nawlins and aside from a couple of drunk a-holes starting fights the LSU fans were great.
I have heard nothing but good things about Bama and Oregon fans so far, with the exception of an idiotic Ducks fan that was pissed that they didn't get to play Bama because they wanted to beat the best. LOL

Yep, generally so. New Orleans can be a bit different as lots of folks will just drive down and hang out, but this year the place was so packed and all the rooms sold out that I didn't see much riff-raff.
Was a fun atmosphere. Love playing games against other huge, traditional fanbases that we never get to play against. Good times.

I had a blast interacting with Alabama fans before the game and I hung out with old timers as well as students. Bourbon Street was awesome both days I was there and I didn't see one instance where things got nasty. People really seemed to enjoy seeing a different perspective.
The interesting thing was that there seemed to be a whole more respect for Ohio State from the LSU, Auburn and Mississippi fans I met the day after the game.
