Seriously though, this is the SEC, specifically the SEC West. All of us have 5-6 elite recruiters and sign Top 10 classes. Not sure why anyone would morn losing one of them. We are in a position right now where we can probably afford to lose a few recruiters if we replace them with better technical guys. Other places want to bulk up their recruiting staff. In 4 years we may be back on the other end.
Wish you were Les Miles

Hey I never said that it was correct, but that is the rumor going around.

No fricking way that this guy REALLY wrote that. Is there? Are Bama fans really that F'ed in the head?

Yea that part was pretty laughable. I've always considered Lucky as a pretty big doucher, I just don't think he'd rush to a computer 7 minutes after Lance Thompson leaves to make up a 500 word manifesto to deflect from tDecline.

People talk about the SEC is declining. Is the decline due to the Saban coaching tree? Saban is dispatching his assistants all over the conference with negative impact on the teams they land on.
Derek Dooley and Sal Sunseri put about another 2 feet of dirt on the UT football grave while they were there
Muschamp sunk the Gators and now McElwain is there to make sure the Gators never resurface.
Pruitt let the dismal Gator O run up and down the field on the Bulldogs.
Now Saban has dispatched two more assistants (Thompson and Steele)to rival programs to destroy them.

Yea, guy is clearly a solid assistant with some elite skills. Just think at this point we felt we were lacking in areas where his skills weren't elite. I'm guessing Saban would rather he be at Southern Cal or Minnesota than recruiting against him every day, but you don't exactly get to decide where he goes after he leaves your place.

Yep, that sounds like a lot of Bama spin to me.

you and your's keep saying this but no one has seen it...because it isn't happening.
The only thing happening is Auburn fans acting like Lance Thompson is gonna have the same kind of effect Cam Newton had in 2010. He's a great recruiter and a good position coach. Nothing more, nothing less.

POPPYCOCK! You're melting down. All of us are. All of our pet's heads are falling off by the second. We just aren't doing it publicly, but all the LSU/Auburn fans know it's happening.

Reading a lot of comments from bama fans that Thompson is/was bama's best recruiter. Odd, then, that bama's PR Director, Paul Finebaum, has been claiming all season & more so lately that "CNS is the best recruiter in the history of college football". And Finebaum would surely never blow smoke about bama, right?

I didn't realize anyone was even debating what Lance Thompson was: an elite recruiter and an average at best LB coach.
You will sign kids you wouldn't have with him on staff. Just don't expect elite level player development at the LB position. Might not matter because Boom should be able to help coach them up.
That said, lets be real: who gives a shite whether he left or was sent packing? No one at Bama is torn up about him leaving. We will continue to sign top 3 classes one way or the other and top tier coaches will still line up to coach under Saban and make piles of money.
Sounds like we're just going to backfill with Tosh Lupoi anyways so its a wash from my perspective (big time recruiter, average position coach).

Just like Finebaum isn't (when he's not posing in Bama coach wear, or kissing Saban's butt, or both at the same time)

Thompson was one of if not our best assistant recruiter.
Are you seriously arguing that Saban is the best recruiter (or one of 2-3) in the history of football?
Is it fun to say stupid things? I just don't get it.

It shouldn't be hard for maybe the best recruiter in college football to recruit at a school that has already played for the national championship twice in the last 4 years
A downgrade from his pervious recruiting pitch.

Direct quotes from Paul Finebaum, Oct. 2014: "the 3 national championships Alabama won were the 3 greatest days of my life". Jan. 2, 2015: "I didn't sleep last nite (after the game )and I won't watch ESPN till next season". Jan. 12, 2015: "Nick Saban is still the greatest college football coach in his era." Jan. 13, 2015: "Alabama would have crushed Oregon, fact".
