Pretty much every LSU poster on this site has repeatedly said that Speedy was their 3rd choice at wide receiver, and that Trey Quinn was the second coming of Wes Welker. So I decided to look at the stats to see what their first year at their respective schools looked like:

Trey Quinn - 3rd or 4th WR Option
Receiving
Catches - 17
Yards - 193
YPC - 11.4
TDs - 0

Punt Returns
Attempts - 1
Yards - 7
Long - 7

Kick Returns
None

Speedy Noil - 3rd WR Option
Receiving
Catches - 44
Yards - 559
YPC - 12.7
TDs - 5

Punt Returns
Attempts - 14
Yards - 178
Long - 67

Kick Returns
Attempts - 25
Yards - 556
Long - 70

LSU fans, will you admit that your school missed on a freak athlete, and instead chose a player that doesn't seem up for the college game's speed?

While your offensive style isn't like A&Ms, it seems like Dupre had a great year and will be a stud. I don't get that sense from Trey. Dupre and Speedy together would have been a nightmare. But instead, y'all only have one playmaker at WR in that class.

Glad y'all viewed Speedy as your 3rd option.

You dog molesters are a pass-first offense or did you not know that? So of course the stats will be skewed.

He was their first option at receiver not their third.

We all know who is better right now, who was better in high school and who the superior talent will always be.

Nothing about Trey Quinn screams 5 star to me. He has trouble just catching the ball right now.

I would think some of the gap could be blamed on both the QB position for each school and offense run by each school.

Had Trey gone to a school like Clemson, which he probably should have, he's probably a Freshman All-American

I hate that he didn't come here but unless he can play QB he wouldn't have made much of a difference for us this year.

Seems to be enough to handle the Aggies though.

I don't get what's so hard for y'all to understand with Speedy. He was/is a terrible fit in LSU's offense. Even the commentators Thanksgiving night made a comment that Speedy's routes were either straight down the field or under 5yds. He's rarely asked to block. It would've been a square peg in a round hole.

First of all, Noil made the choice he made. He was welcome at LSU and in fact, coveted more than Quinn, so there's nothing to admit. Quinn is going to be a very good college receiver before he's done. Ideally, he would have been red-shirted but lack of depth there forced the coaches to play him. He made some great catches and he dropped a few he shouldn't have. The fact is though, that playing in an offense that throws the ball 40 or more times per game would have yielded much gaudier stats for all the Tiger receivers. QB struggles and a potent running game are the chief factor there, not lack of talent at the position. Dupre would likely have caught 40 or 50 balls at aTm this season and Quinn, 25 or so. Noil is a great talent and there's no LSU fan denying that now or before.

lsu wanted speedy - no one reasonable disputes that.

hopefully quinn produces at a higher level as he improves and the LSU QB situation improves.

Is this the moral victory for the aggie offseason?
