Most of the trash leaves early.

And it's gone by 7am the next day as they bus in prisoners to clean it up

No, from the article:
Magically — by which I mean through liberal application of sub-minimum wage inmate labor — the grotesque piles of trash disappear by the time classes start Monday.

Completely gone before Monday morning.
And yes, they do a terrible job of supplying enough garbage cans in strategic locations.

Pretty much. Lack of trash cans and 100,000+ people spread out over an entire college campus creates a lot of trash. Unfortunately a lot of people also do not know how to clean up after themselves when packing up tailgates.

At first I thought you were talking about the time you brought your family to a game.

Never seen as much trash as I did after the blackout game at UGA. It was the worst I've ever seen. Makes that look clean.

the writer is really working on that liberal arts degree when he mentioned sub minimum wage.
Did he factor in room and board in that mini wage calc?

Nobody holds a candle to Penn State fans. They treat their campus like a landfill on gameday and when they came to Tuscaloosa in 2010, it was as if someone unload a garbage truck on their tailgating spot.

Yes it is bad but is cleaned up quickly...kinda of a Louisiana thing...look at the French Quarter at 3 am then 8 am

Even if the university doesn't supply cans, a tailgating group can have trash bags.

Ole Miss fans left a long time ago. It's clean now.

That first pic isnt bad at all. The second one is the parade grounds and its usually that bad. Sometimes it doesnt even matter if you clean up though. People show up at 4am, kick your trash cans over, and collect the cans.
Just how it goes. I've left my area spotless, showed up at 9am the next morning and its a pig sty from the the aluminum collectors.

Some tailgates rely on the university placed trashcans around campus while others use their own bags.
The university doesn't put out enough cans for the those who rely on them and it leads to the mess that you see.
