Just waiting for Maximus to show up, start his Nazi routine, and get banned again.

I don't think Looch would have done that. He has always struck me as a protect the shield type guy.
Agreed
Me too. I don't like how quickly/easily texags bans people (no idea whether Liucci is involved in that - and CGSC, I don't care), but I DO like that they don't put up with rumors.

I give the odds of me getting banned at a good 60% for that thread.
The funny thing is, that actually IS the rumor going around. It even got brought up on the LSU 247 site and was quickly deleted.

On the rant. It's anchored now but the damage is done

That whole ordeal is crazy. Shea is the LSU 247 mod right? That's a pretty big leap for him to start spreading that, and for Hamm to believe it, seems stupid on his part. If however Bryan PD was investigating Speedy, even by an LSU grad making shite up, that's legitimate news.
Strange story.
Strange story.

We are clearly in LSU's head right now.

Oh! Thanks. Well, there's nothing ban-worthy in that post, sez me.

Wow, looks like I missed those fireworks

I'm not sure why but it seems like Revile Ranch has had its share of violent crime over time, not speaking for these incidents brought forth by Dixon/Hamm only recently.
From a journalistic standpoint, what Hamm did was unprofessional and I wouldn't shed a tear for the guy if he was let go. All this has done is aggravate A&M's fan base, and dragged a player's name through the mud as a result of wild speculation formulated by rumor. You always want to be on top of a story and everything but he should have sat on this until some concrete evidence was produced pertaining an investigation from B/CS police and whatever. It's just disappointing all the way around since its been an onslaught of negative publicity this off season regarding some key players and their dismissals, now having to deal with this bullshite on the eve of fall camp beginning recently.

I still think someone needs to ask Brent Z how an apartment robbery in Bryan made it into a syndicated sports report. The BPD release said, "athletic black male," so that make it Aggie sports news?
Someone needs to inform all these professional jock sniffers that there are black males in the world who are not scholarship athletes.

Someone added this is ketchum's wikipage
quote:
In 2014, Ketchum was embroiled in a controversy when he implied a crime in College Station had been committed by a specific member of the Fightin' Texas Aggie Football team, on Twitter.[2] Ketchum's implications fueled rumors on message boards and social media, implicating the player by name, which prompted the Bryan Police Department to break normal protocol and comment on an ongoing investigation in order to reveal that the player Ketchum implicated was not in town when the crime was committed.[3] Ketchum admitted on his message board, Orangebloods.com, that he had based his assumption off of unsubstantiated comments that had been made by users on that same message board. Ketchum has also stated that "nearly 20-percent" of the Texas A&M football program was "behind bars", which also was later proven to be inaccurate.

I'm not a Liucci fan and he has his flaws but he would have NEVER done something like this

I think Hamm handled this poorly. Particularly in letting the speculation run rampant in the original thread. But if someone actually did pick Speedy out of a police lineup or picture book, as is what appears to be alleged, that's news. He went with it too early, without getting the whole story, but I seriously doubt it was a story he WANTED to cover. We're not talking about the normal press, which takes an adversarial position or watchdog (or flatters itself as such). Hamm's business model rewards good news, not bad.
Hamm should have done more checking, and let the story develop more, but if things were already leaking on the Geaux247 side, it's not completely incomprehensible that he could feel the need to say something about the story. Unfortunately, the way he chose to address the issue was very poor, but there was no malice or ill will.
