You went back 20 yrs to find success vs Lsu. Lets just ignore the all time series record and last 3 yrs.
In the next "few years", aggies will be saying "in the next few years". Guaranteed. They don't understand the importance of coaching.
You're frickin dumb. Fran anyone?

Using 1990s scores when your team has lost 3 straight against a team is pretty low

When JF won the Heisman all the Ags were saying "next year". This offseason is no different. Until Sumlin gets great assistants and proves he can develop his own talent there will be no conference titles for A&M. Kyle Allen could be the second coming of Aggie Christ (Manziel) and still wouldn't have the offensive line or half the luck Manziel had. Going to be tough to win games with no defense and a younger, less talented offense.

No they weren't.

With a few exceptions, it typically takes a coach longer than two years to achieve those goals. You forget: Our first year in the SEC was Sumlin's first year at A&M.

Why do you say that?

Johnny Manziel is a good football player. I'm not sure why you're characterizing him as "lucky." Sure, he was the likely beneficiary of luck at times, but no more so (or less) than any other QB.

Few would argue that.
We have a defense--it's just not our strength right now. Thankfully, Sumlin and staff are working to recruit top defenders.
Football isn't like basketball, where one or two players can transform the entire team.
It takes time to build a squad, ya know?
All teams--at some point--field young players. You gotta start somewhere.

Hell yes it is, we're saying "not next year, the year after that."

What? They finished 5th in the SEC in '13 and 3rd in the SEC West in '14.
I'm not saying they aren't going to be an elite program down the line..but your facts are wrong. They haven't out recruited Alabama or LSU yet.

Right. However, Sumlin hasn't had enough classes to get the necessary talent.
Well stockpiling offensive talent isn't the way to go to beat LSU. Shore up that secondary and LB core first. Ftr Bama has been downright pathetic at defending A&M. Think about that.

It's almost like the highest rated player in our incoming class and next year's aren't defensive players.

Aside from us landing lodge, the most glorious thing about this thread was westcoast setting the hook and getting a gump to share this little nugget...

Shall I post all of Alabama's TD's and sunseri's pick six against y'all? The whole point is, you don't have coaching for your defense to consistently beat top teams. Getting talent is obviously gonna help a little but they aren't shite without the brains and technique. An OLB DT and Corner can't do it alone. The pass rush and push up front is great, the neutralizing of the number 1 or 2 receiver is great. What about teams who have a great TE (Alabama and georgia), teams that can run the ball (AU l, LSU, Alabama) who's gonna stop them? Your ILBs and Safeties. They are the heart and soul of your defense. DWI. If you get those then I'll be the first one over here to acknowledge that. Alabama has 3 of your DT, 2 of your OLB, 3 of your Sheffield, and 4-5 badass safeties, along with the most important position on defense. ILB. Foster, Ragland, Lewis all number 1 ILBs and that's after Depriest leaves. Sure Alabama won't have the passing game you have and that's expected with the offense but you won't be blowing Alabama out of the water offense vs offense like Alabama will blow your defense out defense vs defense.
Surely you should know how this works recruitingjunkie. We don't have the top guys now, but 4,5,6,7 years into Sumlin building a program with classes like this and your Bama squad and those ULSU tigers will no longer have a talent advantage to beat up on others. We are recruiting at ALL levels and positions on defense at a high level. We aren't located in a shithole like Alabama, so we don't need to poach other states to be elite on defense

Dudes recruiting brain dead.. He won't get the message. Just like the sips refused to believe we would take over the state with our new advantages. Denial is a bitch. Not a river.
