The conference already makes more money than god.
The conference has been watered down enough already.
Why not just add 40 teams while we're at it. It's retarded.
A conference that is too big has no identity or significance.
We're already too big as is.

North Carolina and Virginia. Great road trips, and, oh, the moolah it would bring. But SEC would have to let UNC play Duke twice each season.

Baylor is not SEC material.

Let's trim the fat and kick your school out for starters, then

Football is the priority and at some point you dilute the product. However, you're forcing me to choose, so let me offer a bold suggestion:
Arizona State and Maryland.
Maryland gives you the DC media market, and they have a donor base that could commit to improving the football program (see Kevin Plank, et cetera). I considered North Carolina State but if you're going to go with a weak football power, might as well go with the weak football power that carries the most media heft.
Virginia Tech and West Virginia are better programs but they give you nothing else.
Arizona State cracks open the West. Furthermore, it has the Phoenix media market, it has a decent football history (see Frank Kush), and for all you traditionalists, it's below the Mason-Dixon line.
Oklahoma and OK State would never separate and all the other possible schools have states that are represented in the conference. So new divisions:
West: Alabama, Arizona State, Arkansas, Auburn, LSU, Mississippi State, Ole Miss, Texas A&M
East: Florida, Georgia, Kentucky, Maryland, Missouri, South Carolina, Tennessee, Vanderbilt

New stadium is looking great, by the way. How long before a new Tarp of Shame comes out?
I reject your "MUST". I don't see a "MUST", and I don't know anybody who wants to go to 16. If for some reason the playoff thing is revamped and all of the remaining Big 4 (Big 12 goes away) agreed on expansion such that it was a must for the playoffs, I'd pick Virginia and North Carolina. Big states. Southern. No other SEC teams there. Not Clemson, FSU, Miami, t.u., or Tulane out of respect for member schools in those states.

I figure briles will retire in ~7 years, 3 years after that his recruits will be gone. By that time I think the intended 45,000 to 55,000 expansion will be done just in time to be tarped.
We'll put a big fancy bear on it, and style it "the tarp that briles built" He'll die of embarrassment and Baylor will never been mentioned on ESPN again.
sufficiently contrite?

Meh, TAMU has more hot girls than Baylor has students. Lived in both places.

This. Just please NEVER let the Hokies in. They act like they have the football history of Bama. When in fact, they look up to Ole Miss.

Longwhorn Network fails.
Add Texas and Notre Dame.
Mike Slive's plan for world domination: complete.

How much room for ego do you think this conference has?

FSU & CLEMSON - would be my choice
VA TECH & NC STATE - would expand the conf best.
But I still think , that because of the GOR all current P5 teams are locked where they are or don't want to move.
With the new demands of the P5 , I think part of that negotiation will be for all 5 conferences to expand to 16.
And for that I believe all of the p5 will bring in "smaller schools" in new geographic markets for their conference.

Clemson already plays half of the SEC, you might as well add them to the East. Move Mizzou to the West where we belong and then add Miami. Profit.
