Why so much preseason love for Bama?

I questioned the legitimacy of their preseason rankings and offense coming into 2013 HERE, but was shunned by Bama fans. I simply stated that their offense would struggle against above average defenses because they had a lot of talent to replace on the OL, McCarron was overrated, and they did not have the best WRs in the conference. I proceeded to tell my buddy there is no way they escape 2013 w/ less than 2 losses.
Some choice responses from Bama fans:
"There are no words for the shite you just posted"
"Holy shite at your post"
"...terrible analysis and understanding of Bama's team"
"Alabama will have the best wide receiver core in the country, a stable of talented running backs and a veteran QB who's won back-to-back national championships -- they'll be terrible."
Well, as we know, Bama's offense opened the year with a miserable performance against Virginia Tech, an above average defense. They finished with 2 losses. McCarron and the "best WR core in the country" finished 7th in passing offense in the conference. 6th in total offense. 4th in scoring offense, but they had WAY more defense/special teams scores than anybody else in the conference. At best, the highly touted offense was average for the conference.

As for 2014, I've seen numerous predictions on TV or other sites claiming Bama as a favorite to contend not only for the conference title, but also the national title. But why?
--The schedule does not set up like 2013. There were 4 games they could have lost last year that wouldn't have been a crazy upset: aTm, LSU, AU and OU. They had a bye week prior to the two they won.
--They're relying on a transfer at QB that nobody knows anything about besides some quotes from the FSU coaching staff/Bama insider fapping.
--They hired Lane Kiffin to coach the offense. There is no concrete evidence that Lane Kiffin is a competent OC. This has been discussed ad nauseam.
--There are no more starting OL remaining from the last national title team. Even last year with Cyrus and Steen, they couldn't handle an above average pass rush.
--Yeldon is good, but struggles with fumblitis...but Henry is there as well, so I think they're fine at RB.
--Cooper is the only WR that strikes fear into the opposition and we don't even know if Coker/Kiffin can get him the rock.
--Their DBs looked pretty average at times last year.
--Their pass rush hasn't been a concern in 2-3 years.

I conclude that there is no way Bama escapes the regular season with less than 2 losses and anywhere from 3-4 wouldn't surprise me. Concur? Dissent?

Oklahoma sucks so much that every sports writer in the nation already forgot they Beat Bama last year?

Appreciate your interest in the game

Because they are Alabama and have the almighty Nick Saban as their head coach. Didn't you know they are the greatest program to ever exist? But I agree with you, they are getting too much pre-season love this year.

2 losses again. No more. But, Alabama's invincibility is gone.

I'll have to ask you ignore that for the purposes of this exercise.

Instead of "your jimmies are rustled" the new comeback should be "you're MenloDawg."
So sad.

Bama could lose two games or even four, but for there to be "no way" that Bama has less than two losses is ridiculous. We are not discussing UGA's season.

Half the preseason rankings are just put out to make money. They seem like the writers are brain dead most of the time. Go look at how wrong they were last year. Half the time they just throw big name teams up there just to fill spots without actually looking at who they lost.
As for Bama they are up there solely because of what they have done in the last few years and not because what they should do this year. It will take a few years of them not winning a NC for people to stop putting them up there just because.

Have you looked at their schedule? Auburn, LSU, and Ole Miss are the only games they even have a remote chance of losing in the regular season

It was an oversight. Sportswriters seem to have forgotten that UGA, not Bama, specializes in preseason titles.

One of Bama's biggest problems last season was offense play calling. Ray Charles could have told you what kind of play was coming 75% of the time because of how predictable it was.
The failed 4th down conversion in the 5th quarter of the Iron Bowl was a perfect example.

And I would have said coming into 2013 that AU's best case scenario was 7-5/8-4. Unexpected things tend to happen.

I think the fan base as a whole has tempered their expectations for 2014. Based on talent alone, we should win at least 10 games, but there are enough question marks at key positions that a national title run isn't likely.
2015 however

quote:HC changes and QB upgrades are usually the only time you see a positive change like that. Auburn had both in one year. As far as their schedule Auburn, LSU, A&M, State, UF, and their bowl team are the only ones with a fair chance of beating them.
