I didn't read all the comments because it sounds like a lot of insecurity - but it sounds like Florida's program is doing very well.

win loss record should be a component.

Scoring from judge to judge isn't arbitrary.
Now, if you are all using the same judges then I might back you some.
Anyway, it won't matter. It just looks silly on paper.

LSU is ranked #1
Right. Those rankings are pretty useless though. Basically it's the "average" score they put up. But the difference between the top 5 is minuscule.

No, they are not.
Different judges are the only real factor.
None of it really matters though. The only thing all these teams are trying to do is get into the NCAA championship. Rankings mean crap once they do that.

Yeah they can rank it however they want. We are the defending national champs and we have beaten all arse! Including LSU. Bama is next!

Of course it does
But honestly, it is a little weird to see LSU who lost to UF, who has a lower average score and whose highest score isn't close to UF's be ranked #1. That is just a weird ranking system.

LSU's average score is actually higher than UF'a and the margins got even wider tonight. LSU is rewarded for scoring higher consistently on the road. UF's highest score is taken out of the equation, just like LSU's. It's simple statistics really. Eliminate the outliers and you have a better representation of a team's average. After LSU,UF, and OU, there actually is a substantial gap in average scores.

BTW UF Womens basketball is doing good work with the win over Vandy and is now 5th in the SEC WBB
with a huge game this weekend against Texas A&M who is 2nd I believe. Our AD has been trying really hard to have womens sports bring home hardware and the basketball unit has not had the results we all wanted for many years...maybe Amanda Butler is going to start getting us near the top every year.
When Spurrier was HC at Florida...he and wife Jeri donated 50K every year to the womens athletic program...they may still be doing so or at least donating to South Carolinas womens program.
I just wish womens basketball wasn't played a lot on sundays.

So gymnastics competitions are school versus school?
I thought it would be more like a track meet with several competing against each other.

It's both. At the end of the meet the top three individual scores from each event receive an award, but the team with highest overall score wins the meet.
And since this thread was bumped

LSU's average score is not higher than Florida's. It's actually below both Florida's and Oklahoma's.
And LSU has never done anything on the national stage. No reason to believe that will change this year.

And prior to last year Florida had done what at Nationals?
Sure they had two runner up finishes, but the first one in 1998 UGA still won it going away:
Georgia, 197.725
Florida, 196.350
Alabama, 196.300

It's funny seeing LSU fans argue about gymnastics. Has your team ever won anything?
And Florida, how many have you won? 1?
Come back when you've won 10.
