A.J is one of the top quarterbacks, in the entire NCAA, but as this is his last year, will Alabama be the same team without him next year?

I foresee Alabama using the running game a lot more next year, similar to what we saw in 2009 and 2011 with new quarterbacks. The key will be Alabama replacing two more starters on that offensive line, which wasn't all that great this year.

And if Blake Sims starts... 2-3 losses.

According to everyone here he is just a system QB/game manager and it is b/c of all the talent that surrounds him.

We will be fine.

Defense will still dominate. That's all that really matters for Saban teams if they want 10-11 wins a year.

See Alabama 2011 for the most part. Saban kept AJ handcuffed for most of the season and relied on the running game

They will still be the odds on favorite for the national title if Saban stays...period. They will still be the best team in the nation based on talent alone, no matter who is the coach.

The last two times Alabama has broken in a new starter at QB, they've won the NC.

I'll hold judgement.

The O-line will be much more experienced in their holding capabilities. Should be a-ok.

AJ is a winner 36-3 so far. However, CNS will identify a QB and I doubt Bama will drop more than 1 or 2 games. 3 losses is the floor with the talent CNS has continued to bring them. Of course, if they have some sort of injury plague like UGA or UF, I guess they could lose 4.

They will get the QB competition underway during bowl prep and whoever wins the job will have many reps during Spring practice then lead summer workouts and go through camp to prepare for the season.

I think Bama will compete for SEC west with talented players like Yeldon/Drake, OJ Howard, and a good offensive line. I'm sure they will be really good on defense- especially if Saban brings in a monster for NT. I think Griffith will be a good PK- in HS the kid was amazing.

He's just a game manager. Losing him will not have an effect.

According to this forum he is just a game manager who anyone could replace.

I guess we'll just use anyone to replace him and continue to dominate.

He is just a game manager, and he has had elite defenses and running games around him, but he's still very good at carrying out his role.

Players only suck until they are about to graduate, then they become irreplaceable gems whose loss will cause you to be terrible.

Has anyone mentioned yet that he's just a game manager?

Because he's just a game manager.

I think they'll go 10-2 maybe even 11-1 no matter who the QB is. Everybody should know by now that Bama's success is not predicated on their QB play, it's predicated on their offensive line and defense. This is the team that undefeated in the regular season two years in a row with John Parker Wilson and Greg McElroy at QB. They'll win no matter who is under center.

What happened after 2010? Didn't we break in a new QB in 2011? How'd that work out?
Seriously, Imo, the biggest thing that Alabama lacked this year was consistant intensity. A couple of NCs in a row can cause that you know (or maybe you don't ). Do you think that Coach Cochran and Co. will have them playing with a chip on their shoulder next year? I'm guessing we'll see the physical, overpowering type of team that we had in 2011, and with the hitters we've got coming back, they gonna hurt some folks.

when bama got average QB play combined with average OL play, they went 9-3 (2010). The question is will the OL improve?

Bama can win with average QBs... but the OL has to play lights out. Pannunzio leaving may have hurt more than most think.
