Agree, they probably are the best. However, you can't lose at a crucial time. They did and must suffer the consequences. Saban hates November.

So then...who was the best team in 2007?

They probably are which is why I can't wait for playoff system.....we face a tough motivated team like Aggie last year or AU this that late in the season and we don't play to our peak, then we wind up with an L....I would give anything for a rematch......but that is not how it works this year and AU won the game straight up so we are on the outside looking in.

In 2011 I couldn't say there was another team that would've beat 2011 Bama any given Saturday. LSU's defense was the only other thing that could stand up to that 2011 Bama team. This season I think there's at least 6 or so CFB teams that could beat 2013 Bama any given Saturday. No way I could say that in 2011......
Bama's problems this season
* Bama's 3rd & long defense is terrible against good teams
* Bama's 3rd & short offense isn't money
* Bama just doesn't have that eye-of-the-tiger edge
They haven't played with the needed emotional level
*Bama's OL isn't dominate
* Bama had to many young players all over the place. They'll grow from these lessons, and become young men.
Could Bama win a CFB playoff this season? Sure they could, but the BCS got it right again. Auburn is the hottest team in the Nation and peaked at the right time. This long layoff could be worse for Auburn, and it stinks Auburns has to hit the breaks now.

Not saying they deserve to be in the title game, but they are. If OSU (or anyone else in a bcs conference besides LSU for that matter) had been undefeated in '11, Bama still would have been the best team in the nation but not playing in the game. Fate allowed them to prove it in '11, and not this year. Can anyone honestly disagree?
Uh no... They didn't deserve it in 2011 either.

Everybody knows it's true, but losses have consequences. Sometimes.

Why not?
Bama lost to LSU in the "game of the century" that everyone knew was an elimination game.
LSU lost to Arkansas as the #1 team in the last game of the reg season.
Florida almost didn't even get to play for the championship in '06, because OSU and Michigan were supposedly the 2 best teams and had they done that rematch, the best team would have been watching on TV.
Champion =\= best team necessarily.
Saban inexplicably decided to forego a likely game winning field goal and they ended up losing a game they should have won. It happens. They are still the best team.
It doesn't matter, but it is the truth.

Bama is not the best team in the country this year....they are either the 3rd or 4th best team and would like our chances in a playoff....result ma be still a loss to AU or FSU but it would be fun to see.

You can't mix these two, troll! 2011 and 2007 are completely different scenarios. At least 2007 LSU won the SEC West and SECCG. 2011 Alabama had no business in the title game even though they were lauded as the "best" team.
Add to that, the 2011 Tide lost at home!

Is this a gymnastics thread?

I would confidently pick Bama to win if the 4 team playoff started this year and they were in it.
