A loss on the road in the last seconds of a game that the coach seemingly lost on purpose by not kicking a short field goal and then trying an impossibly long one as time expired doesn't prove to me that they aren't the best team.

And they still would have won by two scores if Cade Foster wasn't so inept at kicking field goals.

But they DIDN'T. Woulda... coulda...shoulda...didn'ta

On those drives, they couldn't make it into the end zone. The field goal kicker is part of the team. Bama is not as consistent on the road and leaving it up to a kicker in a hostile environment is never the best situation. With a shaky field goal unit and an opposing offense running it down their throat, OT would have favored Auburn.

The last time I checked, the kicker is part of the "team". I could be wrong though.

Nah, when Bama misses field goals they "left points on the field" - it actually convinces them they're the better team

I think Florida State is the best team in the nation, and I think they'll win the national title.

So no, Alabama isn't.

ETA: In 2011 they were. Y'all aren't the best team in the nation every year, though.

"the Best Team" is impossible to determine in the number of games and structure of college football.

The two teams which deserve to be there, are there. I will not say that if we played tomorrow, Alabama would lose to either of those teams. But that has absolutely nothing to do with reality - they aren't playing tomorrow, and the team that got it done on the field is playing against FSU for the title.
