Not a flame Gumps, I was surprised at how little your band actually plays during the game. The noise at the game is artificial due to the piped in music. I guess Im a traditionalist and prefer more band and crowd interaction. Obviously this is the new way.

WTF can't LSU bring your band to a prime time game vs Bama?
And, I must say our band has sucked arse all season IMO. Looked like shite when compared to the Vols band last week, and some dumbass had the stupid idea to play a selection of "love songs" for the half time show against LSU.

I can see how LSU fans would think piped music is weird given the culture of live music (particularly all the brass) that is known throughout la.
Bama is trying to creat an atmosphere that is similar to an NFL game with the dance music and rap songs and whatnot sprinkled in during commercial breaks and whatnot.

Mett was rattled by the crowd noise all game. There's no piped in music except during commercial breaks.

Catering to the younger crowd and students.
And, do people really care about this? Makes no difference to me. I enjoy both the band and music being played over loud speaker, but I really come for the football. Commercial breaks are a good time to piss and mix a drink, not make noise. I save my yelling for when the other team is on offense.

I went to Neyland last year when TN was in the middle of the Dooley dumpster fire. The guy behind me quipped "well, at least our band is better."
