Making the trip this weekend. What time does the bulldog bash get going? Any info on parking?

For bulldog bash, just park somewhere on campus and walk over. The location of the stage is about 200 yards off campus. Battle of the bands usually starts around 7 or so with the main acts later.

For others who asked/talked about restaurants:
I have lived all over the U.S. and Starkville has several restaurants that I'll put up against most places. My favorites in order are
1) The Veranda (steak and seafood, my favorite is shrimp and grits)
2) Restaurant Tyler (steak and seafood)
3) Umi (no shite, this place has sushi better than what I can get in DC)
4) Little Dooey (BBQ and catfish)
5) Cappe's (Steak. They only have steak so don't take your vegan date expecting to find something on the menu)
6) The Grill (seafood, steak on a stick, burgers, and some of the best fried cheese logs around)

7) Mugshots (My favorite burgers in the world)
8) Oby's (Best Poboys in Mississippi)
9) Stromboli's (Best Pizza in town)

I heart Mugshots.

What happened to State Theatre? One of the few times I've gone out in Starkville was to State Theatre. I thought it was a pretty cool place.

I'm older, and when I went to State Theater it was cool, but a year ago or so I saw what appeared to be a 45 person gang fight in front of it as I left Old Venice.. Tells me all I need to know.

This is the type of classy State fans I sat in front of. As for my punkass, I can easily take care of myself. But my two sons were with me so I just moved on. I could care less what you can or cann't do without me returning to S.ville. I was simply answering the OP's question with a description of my experience.

I was on the balcony at Zorbas when that happened. I think that was during blue/white week though.

I used to love State Theater. I think they always just had poor management and always had trouble with their liquor license. The last time they came back all they could serve was beer, so they didn't last long at all.

It was probably 4 years ago when I was last there. I was just curious because I had heard it kept closing.

Petty's BBQ 2x> Little Dooey's

If you like BBQ- grab some Petty's before you leave

And take a quart of their baked beans home with you. Different than any I have ever had.

Petty's has better bbq, but dooey's has better sides. If only you could combine the two.

I had Restaurant Tyler this weekend. Overrated. Food was alright but was cold when I got it and the service was absolute shite. Never again.

Zorba's is okay, nothing more. Dave's has better gyros. Dave's food all-around is pretty damn good.

Petty's > Dooey's

I disagree with the guy who said Starkville has amazing restaurants. There are some pretty good ones, but nothing I would qualify with "amazing". Harvey's has good Shrimp n grits and their spinach-artichoke dip is pretty tasty. Mugshots is alright. I haven't had Cappe's yet but I've heard some good things. Stromboli's is solid. Haven't made it to the Veranda yet but I will either check it our Cappe's out this weekend.

When I had Restaurant Tyler it was pretty good, but that was a while ago.

Daves has very good bar food. Really some of the best bar food I have had.

I agree that nothing in Starkville is amazing...but there are several good restaurants. It's pretty rare to find an amazing restaurant in a college town though. Athens has it, but that's just because of Hugh Acheson.

Well the food at Tyler probably would've been solid if it weren't cold. Took 2 hours to get it, got it cold, and the waitress took 45 minutes to bring a sprite refill and coffee. I guess I shouldn't generalize off of one experience but hey, it's all I have.
