Attendance by percentage of stadium capacity filled is an interesting metric too

81572 / 80250 capacity ... for a 6pm thursday kickoff

... on the surface of the sun (Columbia in August). proud of all the Gamecocks.

Why is that? We only hold like 87k or something like that. It was hot at 1pm. I skipped going because my son can't take that heat. Nor can I for a whole game. I mean I can but damn, that's hot.

SEC home venues - all home SEC teams drew at least 80%
Rice @ Texas A&M - 86,686 of 82,589 or 105% of capacity
UNC @ South Carolina - 81,572 of 80,250 or 102% of capacity
Ole Miss @ Vandy - 40,350 of 40,350 or 100% of capacity
Washington State @ Auburn - 85,095 of 87,451 or 97% of capacity
Austin Peay @ Tennessee - 97,169 of 102,455 or 95% of capacity
Toledo @ Florida - 83,604 of 88,548 or 94% of capacity
Louisiana-Lafayette @ Arkansas - 69,801 of 76,000 or 92% of capacity
Murray State @ Missouri - 58,038 of 71,004 or 82% of capacity

Away venues - all three drew over 100% and shows rewards of scheduling SEC teams
Kentucky @ Western Kentucky - 47,626 of 22,000 or 216% of capacity (obvious why WKU moved to LP Field)
LSU @ TCU - 80,230 of 45,000 or 178% of capacity (and why the Frogs moved to JerryWorld)
UGA @ Clemson - 83,830 of 81,500 or 103% of capacity

Neutral venues - both drew below SEC home venue numbers
Alabama vs Virginia Tech - 73,114 of 101,821 and 72% of Tuscaloosa capacity
Mississippi State vs Oklahoma State - 35,874 of 55,082 and 65% of Starkville capacity

[edit for higher UK number]

97k isn't high enough. It used to be 104k every saturday, no matter who we were playing.

you guys had seasons where you had at least 104k every home game? thats impressive.

Whatever year we opened with Fresno State was hotter. People were collapsing in stands. Was like 98 degrees or domething. I dont know how the players handled it.

So Florida fans are literally fair weather?

All I know is that stadium was half-empty as frick however you put it. Looked bad on tv, not a good example to set for us noobs.

In the 90s our stadium held almost 108k. We were good. Since they have taken out about 5500 seats to have more luxury boxes for big donors.

Does that rhyme or am I mis-pronouncing "Peay?"

Doesn't Blacksburg only have a 65,000 capacity?

The Swamp was probably about 2/3 full. The entire away section was empty, which is the large portion that y'all saw on TV in the corner that literally had nobody.

By the 3rd quarter, a large portion of the students were gone.

A noon game vs Toledo when it's almost 100 degree just doesn't appeal to many people today with all the HDTVs and AC. With the majority of Florida fans living in cities 2.5-5 hours away, I'm not surprised though.
