It's preposterous to make that statement without even knowing who it is going to be.

I actually think Grant will get more leeway with a new AD.
Posted on 3/20/13 at 9:26 pm to bigpapamac
no its not, new ADs usually like trying to make landmark hires early on.

What kind of 'landmark' hire could a new AD make for Alabama basketball? Throw a couple names out there. Is any basketball hire at Alabama 'landmark?' Besides, I think you're thinking of NFL GMs anyway.

I have no way of knowing whose going to be out there next year. Do you?
Posted on 3/20/13 at 9:40 pm to bigpapamac
The point is they typically try to make landmark hires, regardless of whether they succeed in doing so. If next year goes about like this year did, maybe a little worse, a new AD will be more inclined to fire Grant than Moore would have been. As for who he'd try to land.... who knows? Maybe that guy at Miami (who's about to go on probation). I'm not saying we'd land him, but we would at least try

If you think we would even consider firing Grant this year you have little to no understanding of sec basketball. However, Grant should have made the tournament this year. Next year's team is built to get a five seed or higher and make a strong run in the tournament. We have size, speed, and experience. No excuses next year. Roll Tide.

Wichita State showed us today where our program should be.
2 years ago they were in the finals of the NIT against us.
Today they made the second round of the NCAA tourney.
Why can't our team do the same?

We use up all our prayers to the sports gods on the gridiron, softball diamond and balance beam apparently

Another comically inept last possession play drawn up by one of the worst offensive Xs and Os minds in basketball.

I thought we got a good look on that last shot. just didnt go in.
Posted on 3/26/13 at 8:38 pm to Funky Tide 8
Me too, he can't shoot the shots for them.

Yeah. Clearly I'm not talking about the "play" we ran out of our last timeout.
Posted on 3/26/13 at 8:46 pm to Robot Santa
I know nothing about basketball really, but you know in football they have a 2 pt conversion play they always practice or a play that is guaranteed to work when you need it like the "oh shite" pass play. You'd think they'd do the same in basketball for a situation like that?
Posted on 3/26/13 at 8:48 pm to Funky Tide 8
Should have taken an early shot and if we missed we still would have had the chance to win or tie.
Posted on 3/26/13 at 8:51 pm to crimsonblazer
That's was we ran off the inbounds with 3 seconds left. That wasn't a bad look. Not even a great Xs and Os guy like Coach K or Izzo is going to have anything brilliant in that situation. But Rodney Cooper on a drive against a good shot blocker is about the last thing you want out of your last timeout. Ahead of a Nick Jacobs 3 and behind a Moussa hook shot.

We just really suck, plain and simple. I don't know what we need to do to make Alabama a good basketball school, but whatever it is, we need to throw the money at it.

no we dont. We won 23 games this year. We are mediocre, yes, but we don't "suck".

To me, being mediocre is sucking.
