Some quotes from Tre on Casher:
quote:

"I've been hearing lots of things and he didn't talk much about it," Williams said. "I don't want to aggravate him about it. I'm going to let it all play out. He said he'd tell everybody one day, but right now, I don't know what he's thinking. I'm just hearing stuff right now.

"To me, he doesn't talk about what's going on. He seems more stressed out than anything. I don't want to put any more stress on him. The season is coming up and we really need him. I'm going to let him and his family talk about things. I can't get mad, it's his life and I'll be the friend I've always been."
At this point, there's no reason to keep pretending he's a commit. We should Liner him

Guys need to understand, sometimes it works out like TJ Yeldon... and sometimes it works out like Darius Philon.

It wouldn't hurt my feelings if we did cut him loose... it's pretty clear he doesn't have a commitable offer from them... if we do stop recruiting him, he loses a lot of leverage and could easily wind up out of state.

Alabama can have him.

ETA: This staff has proven that they don't joke around with recruits. They could cut ties at any moment. Besides, if he doesn't want to take over for Reese Diskukes, and would rather sit around behind countless other recruits, let him. Alabama is taking around 7-8 offensive linemen this class. He can go enjoy that.

It'd be the wrong move to distance ourselves from him IMO. It could leave a bad taste in Tre's mouth. He's the most important recruit of this class.

The kids need to quit bouncing around and playing games to get attention from other schools. Wait until you know where you are going, then commit and quit visiting then.

I am glad Gus has shown he isn't playing games with the kids no matter how big a recruit they are.

The comments do make Tre seem even more solid.

And like he's got a good head on his shoulders. That was a very mature take on the situation.

Alabama is spitting out RBs into the NFL right now. They're going early and getting nice contracts. With 5-8 on a roster at any given time and two-three seeing significant playing time, it's worth waiting on the offer IMO.

Who produced the better NFL running back?

Malzahn (Tate)?

Or Bama-OC-of-the-day (Ingram, Richardson)?

We still could lose Tre, Daqhille, and Casher. With that said, we could also pull Roc, Evaans, and Clark. Too many variables to say with confidence we'll have a top 10 class, but I do think 15-20 is very realistic

Some of y'all must have been such shining lights of joy for your parents growing up.

"Are you excited about going to Disney World, Lil R24?"

"Naahhhh... we'll probably get in a horrible accident on the way their and we'll all die."

Well Malzahn has 1 Auburn RB in the NFL, while Bama has 3 (Ingram, Richardson, Lacy) with Yeldon sure to follow, and whoever steps up from the 6 other top RBs they have is next in line.

I sympathize and mostly agree with the "kicking to the curb" theory.

But its more complicated than that... with DC we've got our feet back in the Mobile recruiting game and we don't want to mess with that either.

I know we can't count him, but Dyer would have been another for Malzahn if he'd kept his head straight.

And didn't Gus have a few good ones when he was at Arky?

He was there for one year. He can't really claim them.

Gus' offense is RB-friendly and I think he'll put RBs in the NFL during his career at Auburn. But Bama is cranking out NFL guys every year. There's no way to really swing that in Gus' favor yet

Numbers wise? No.

But my post was clearly pointing out quality over quantity.

(Or maybe not so clearly, I guess. )

Just read the recruiting chat on Al.com, or as much as I could handle, and saw this on Devaroe. Good stuff.

Mike Herndon | mherndon@al.com
... Reason I am a bit behind on my responses, though, is that I just got off phone with Lawrence's position coach at GMC. He's going to be biased, of course, but he says the kid is a diamond in the rough. Says he is raw, but no one on their team can block him.

He did not play last fall, which is why there's not much info on him. Earned a spot on GMC's team as a walk-on after a strong performance at their preseason combine. Came in overweight and out of shape, their DL coach told me, but has worked his way into shape, benches 385-400, squats 500, power cleans 305. Coach says he's raw but they don't have anyone who can block him. Interesting developmental prospect, I'm thinking. And he'll have three years to play three, I believe.

Quality is irrelevant really, just look at the contracts because that is the selling point.

Cool. Coaches need to give Andrew Marshall a call tonight.

I'd rather them look a little more. I don't know anything about Marshall, but he has no quality offers
