re: 270 yards passing is why A&M lost!

Thanks for clearing this up. Silly me, I was thinking it was the 5 turnovers leading to 21 points for LSU, the 7 points our kicker couldn't convert, and the stupid penalty that called back a TD (and would have put him above 300 yards btw).
Your team won and deserved to win, enjoy it!

Manziel had more yards of offense than LSU had allowed to anyone all season long. It's a little silly to act like he got dominated.
Passer rating of 81.5 (source primecomputing.com), and would be a 43 flat Passer rating in the NFL. To put that in perspective, Mett had a lower NCAA rating, but would have a higher NFL rating (because of the different way interceptions are graded).
While "dominated" may be too strong, he "woefully underperformed both passing and running the ball" based on the pre-game hype. He's a freshman and he played like one at times. Our guys said it was "not fun" chasing him and it was like "playing tag with a cat". I take those comments as positive endorsement of the young man's talent. I expect him to improve and provide a lot of entertainment for the conference over the next 3 seasons.
Good luck the rest of the way.

I'm confused here. Is it the 270 yards passing or the number of attempts that caused A&M to lose?
A bit of a tricky/cliffhanger title I admit but it is the same thing. You don't reach 270 without the attempts. You also don't throw 3 picks and possibly win.

He did not fare better than Connor Shaw if you are objective. See my original post.

Agreed. 3 picks will kill your chances of winning a game.
In fairness to Jizz Jar Jesus, one of the picks was a bounce off the hip of a receiver, another was on the last play of the game when we were trying for the Stanford/Cal win.

LSU won, no one is arguing that. Manziel looked like a freshman and he made some serious mistakes - it happens, but it's tough to walk away from that game and feel like we got destroyed. (Cotton Bowl 2010 for example)
What exactly do you expect us to do here?
I'm not knocking the kid. The point was to question the strategy becuase I don't recall anyone doing it. It is at least worth considering if you throw 25 he finishes with say 150 yds but just one pick and a win. Isn't that a better game for him and the team?

We did everything necessary to win the game except protect the football and kick it with any sort of FBS competence. Could we have changed the strategy to be more effective? Hell yes. We could have ran the ball more. The Vaunted LSU Super Turbo Awesome Defense was getting arse raped by our running game until BM fumbled.
For some reason, we decided to move away from the running game, putting more pressure on Jizz Jar Jesus. Regardless, if we protect the football, even once and hit the 33 yard field goal, we win. I'm not making up moral victories. frick that. I am just talking about strategy. We could have won with the strategy we implemented.

I am an older poster on this board and have seen over 50 years of bama and SEC football.
That said, having familarity with A&M, I warn all other SEC fans and schools, do not take them lightly.
Kevin Sumlin is the next Great coach in the SEC. Don't doubt me.
With A&M now the only SEC team in Texas, he will recruit depth and SEC size on defense.
Sumlin may be forced to run a more pro style offense. Maybe not. With a great defense, how scary would JFF be?
Disrespect A&M at your own teams peril
They will become an SEC power!

Why are total yardage stats something to be proud of?
YOU LOST THE GAME.

Dumbest statement ever! We adjust and the ball stopped moving. Thats what the 3-2-6 mustang package does. It gives up some passing yardage but forces mistakes over the length of a drive. Just like WVU last year. You can have the yards. We'll take the turnovers and the win!

Too much skin and bones and that shite just ends up grinding against you and giving you sores.
Generally herpes sores, too.
