No I was interested in where you placed the blame.
If the offensive woes were Crowton's fault, then couldn't it be just as easy to say Auburn's defensive struggles were on Ted Roof?
If Les was responsible, then I'm not sure why you are pointing out Auburn sucking on defense to validate your point.

Why is he 0-6 against those two then?
Because he is the worst clock manager and situation manager in the SEC (and that includes Les who is probably second. If there is any doubt, see 2009 LSU and 2011 Auburn games.
Paraphrased from last year: I know if we throw the ball on that last play that we get two shots at it, but based on the situation we decided to try and run the ball
quote:
All 10 seconds remaining ticked off when Relf came up short. "Chris made the call on the last play of the game," Mullen said. "We gave him two choices (pass or run). I put it in his hands and he made the right call. I like that. I like that confidence. "Chris said, 'I feel great about this run call.' It looked like he had it and the kid made a heck of an open-field tackle."
quote:
1st and Goal at AUB 1 Vick Ballard rush for a loss of 1 yard to the Aub 2.
2nd and Goal at AUB 2 Timeout MISSISSIPPI ST, clock 0:10.
2nd and Goal at AUB 2 Chris Relf rush for 1 yard to the Aub 1.
End of 4th Quarter

welcome to 2006 Jeebus
anyone who wouldn't take Miles over Cheesedick is rather dumb or stupid, can't decide which

If Merlins is such a damn genius why in the hell couldn't he beat one of the worse teams LSU put on the field in the last decade, when he had the ball on the one fricking yard line with a minute to go.

Not sure why you're laughing. The entire statement is factual.
Go back and look at his time at OSU.
Was the program established at LSU when he arrived? Yes or no?
Do you have a significant rival that you have had to recruit against, year in and year out, since he arrived? Yes or no?

Miles is 8 years into a program that was already established when he arrived.
He recruits against almost no one for most of the kids who attend LSU.
Is he a good coach? Yes. But, there are more to a coach's W/L record than just his raw coaching ability.
After Chizik has a few more seasons under his belt, we'll be able to more accurately answer this question.
Right now, I like Chizik and I think the future of our program is bright. No reason to trade him.

You lost to UF 51-21 in 2008. You lost to Ole Miss 31-13. The year after a NC. Yet Miles remains.
fricking dumbass.

Because Merlins had a worse team- we had a frickin walk-on playing QB- at an SEC school- a walk-on playing vs LSU. And Chad Jones made one of the best goalline defensive plays I've ever seen

With a walk-on at QB, I'm sure Mullen would have found a way to coach around that, especially in the game's biggest moments, right? Especially with the Dixon/Ducre tandem.
quote:
"On the last play, I made a read and saw pressure upfield," Lee said. "I felt like I could knife in the end zone on the inside." Mullen said it appeared the option pitch was open for the score, but that Lee is allowed to make a change in the play. He simply didn't get to the goal line, something LSU always seems able to do in key moments. "When the play was there to be made at the biggest times of the game, they made the play," Mullen said.
So the strategy was put it in the walk-on's hands? Almost identical to the Auburn game.
Here is the final four plays of the drive
quote:
1st and Goal at LSU 2 Anthony Dixon rush for 1 yard to the LSU 1.
2nd and Goal at LSU 1 Timeout LSU, clock 01:22.
2nd and Goal at LSU 1 Anthony Dixon rush for no gain to the LSU 1.
3rd and Goal at LSU 1 Timeout LSU, clock 01:14.
3rd and Goal at LSU 1 Tyson Lee pass incomplete, broken up by Chad Jones.
4th and Goal at LSU 1 Tyson Lee rush for no gain to the LSU 1.

Saban, miles, spurrier, Mullen, chiz for gods sake. Chiz is a defense minded coach, and look at your d, only reason you have been semi successful was Cam for your championship and other average years were because of gus. Auburn isn't the same auburn as when Tubbs was there!

How many years will Miles have to maintain the program (actually bring it to a higher level then Saban ever did)? I feel confident he could coach for another decade and some of his critics will still say it's because of a coach who was here 2 decades ago. We are way past Coker time period, 8 years later. It's funny how Meyer gets all the credit for his NC in year 2. What about Zook talent already there? How about Hallman in 90? Why couldn't he continue the winning tradition of the 88 SEC Champ tiger team just 2 years prior? After all, it's so easy in LA to recruit anybody can do it

The hurry up no huddle, and poor tubs defensive recruiting didn't help.

Yeah, I agree with everything you said. I even said:
quote:
Is he a good coach? Yes
I am not taking anything away from him, just framing his success within the advantageous position he has the benefit of enjoying.
You're so quick to try to defend a slight that was never there to begin with. Slow your roll.

That was painful. I think Ben Tate and Brad Lester are still WTF get me the ball'ing about that.
It did give us the storied 3-2 affair that will be talked about in hushed, reverent tones forever.

Look at Okie State's record prior to Miles arrival. Please note he beat OU twice while at Okie State. Please name Chiz's or Hunchback's upsets.State rolls over like the Dogs they are. Put La. Tech in SEC and they surpass MSU in three years!

I do get the vibe that Gene is probably more hands on, though.
I call bullshite - If Chizik were more hands on, that defense AU fielded last year wouldn't have been so putrid.

He did improve OSU. He didn't set the world on fire.
Sort of like Chizik improved upon AU's 2008 record, but didn't set the world on fire.

West Virginia and Ole Miss in 2009.
South Carolina and Florida in 2011.
South Carolina was probably the biggest. I believe they were ranked 10th.
