okay...you have won 1 title in 5 years with Saban.....I know, I know....you won 2 NC's....which makes winning SEC harder to do, although not more prestigious. Fact is, WHEN LSU wins the SEC this year, it will be the 3rd SEC title for Miles in 8 years.....compared to 1 in 6 for saban......with a great shot at another NC for miles....of course we will have to see how the mulligans come out before we get ahead of ourselves...it will still be hard to beat the same team twice if that happens again.

LSU returns better team - how could they lose in Nov?

quote:

Most lsu fans know that they destroyed every single team they played last year, except bama, which they went 1-1 with. Most know that the lsu defense will be even better than last year, and the offense will be significantly improved, with special teams about the same. Most know that bama lost it's defense.......troll all you want....the #1 or #2 ranking has nothing to do with expectations. This lsu team will just be better than last, and possibly more hungry....that's where the expectations arise. I'm sorry that lsu getting ink really makes you bitter....

you realize lsu returns a grand total of 1 more starter than does bama?

Uh oh, that must mean we only win 9-7 on Nov. 3, and lose 20-0 on Jan. '13

If you knew math, you would know it was 1 NC in five years. I already included your 2 in the discussion. Math 101

I would still like to hear your thoughts on how the New England Patriots would fare against Bama '12. Not too well, I think.

Bama has big time advantages on both lines of scrimmage. Shoot, they might go ahead and induct Cyrus K into the NFL Hall of Fame after he repeatedly pancakes whatever scrubs Bill Belichick sends out to meet him.

You're basketba program is no where near LSU's. Go look at tourney records. LSU's destroys yours.

Alabama has dominated the head to head series with LSU 99-65. That's what you call ownage. Bama also has more all time wins, all time SEC wins, and a higher all time winning %

Yeah, but we're not trying to replace 5 playmakers on defense and a heisman-type RB. Excuse the frick out of me for being optimistic.

The problem with LSU is it's identity. Les Miles is doing everything possible to change an SEC team into a Big 10 team. Let's take a look at LSU's offensive line - big, slow and not very athletic. Most are 6'5 or taller with no speed and poor footwork. Who am I describing? Sounds like Michigan, Ohio State or Wisconsin doesn't it.

Miles has his defensive playmakers on the dline and backfield and has done a poor job of recruiting great linebackers, who are the real playmakers. Don't get me wrong, LSU has had great dlinemen and backs, but your playmakers on any great team are your linebackers and dbacks.

Will it be very hard to beat LSU on a saturday night in tiger stadium? Bet your arse it will be! But, as I look at LSU this fall, I can't help but believe that Miles is transforming an SEC team into a Big 10 team. Good Luck with that one Tiger Fans!

yes you guys have killed it in basketball, far exceeding LSU's final 8 and final 4 appearances....LSU. Just for the record, I'd rather have 1 good year and 9 average to bad ones, than 10 average to bad ones...just my preference though.

Yes that's right, we have won 0 "mantional" titles in 5 years, whatever TF that is :)
But we did win 2 'national' titles in a span of 5 years between '03 and '07.
We also have had FIVE 11+ win seasons since our previous coach's successor came to Baton Rouge in 2005, along with 3 SECCG appearances, 2 SEC titles, 5-2 in bowl games and 2-1 in BCS bowls..........

I get what you're saying but you have to remember who's been throwing the ball last 4 years. CLM has to do a better job in recruiting QB's. A good year by Zach will go a long way in helping with this.

great assessment. I suppose that is why LSU has been improving like it has right? This will be one of LSU's best OL's in a long while. I think you forget they have a top 10 draft pick on the OL this year, and the #1 player in highschool who will be a sophomore. The LSU line will be a huge strength this year. As for Linebacker....they have recruited exceptionally well the past two years at that spot....that has always been a trademark of chavis coached teams, and this one will be no exception. Miles did what he had to do with poor Qb's....you will see a drastic change in the offense this year...whether you want to or not.

Da frick? Our o-line wasn't the problem last year. If our fricking QB would've known when to get rid of the ball or if we had a screen game.............. frick, I digress.

What you'll see this year from LSU LBs will be night and day compared to last year. He more than addressed the LB problem in last years class. There's also a guy by the name of Kwon that the SEC will know about sooner rather than later. Not to mention Minter is already #5 on the NFL LB draft board going into his Jr year according to NFL.com.

What does this even mean? We haven't had a legitimate SEC QB in 4 years. Is it possible that had SOMETHING to do with the offensive troubles?

Ditching Crowton and having Stud/Krag is a vast improvement also I think.

And the talent is just better. I think by halftime of the North Texas game even LSU fans will be wondering how the frick Miles won any games the past 4 years.

This is an excellent point. But I would take it a step further. I predict that any teams in 2012 that have less points on the scoreboard than the other team at the end of the game will lose the majority of the time.
