Sorry dude, but LSU's LB corps has been middle of the pack since chavis arrived and appears to be this year. That may not be the case in 2 years when the previous recruiting class grows up, because I think louis, feist, and KW are all good football players..but the LB corps has been nothing to write home about for a while now. Kelvin Sheppard has probably been LSU's best LB since bradie james and bradie was a decade ago

The problem with LSU is it's identity. Les Miles is doing everything possible to change an SEC team into a Big 10 team. Let's take a look at LSU's offensive line - big, slow and not very athletic. Most are 6'5 or taller with no speed and poor footwork. Who am I describing? Sounds like Michigan, Ohio State or Wisconsin doesn't it.

Miles has his defensive playmakers on the dline and backfield and has done a poor job of recruiting great linebackers, who are the real playmakers. Don't get me wrong, LSU has had great dlinemen and backs, but your playmakers on any great team are your linebackers and dbacks.

Will it be very hard to beat LSU on a saturday night in tiger stadium? Bet your arse it will be! But, as I look at LSU this fall, I can't help but believe that Miles is transforming an SEC team into a Big 10 team. Good Luck with that one Tiger Fans!

Wow. So we pass for 250 yards in the spring game, Miles has stated publicly that we will throw the ball a lot more in 2012, but we are turning into a Big 10 team. Uhhh, ok, Socrates, whatever you want to fantasize about.
Where in the everloving flying possum coital act to you assume LSU's O-line is slow and not athletic? LSU will have their best O-line in history this year, only losing 1 starter and returning injured former starter Josh Dworyczak back to the team; plus two huge 'athletic' blocking TEs in Edwards and Jacobs and two pass-catching TEs in Clement and Dickson.
While we have probably the best stable of tailbacks in the nation with Ford, Hilliard, Ware, Magee, Blue, and Hill, plus a returning starter 270 pound FB, we will return 8 playmaking wide receivers, including returning starters Shepard and Beckham, plus future stars Jarvis Landry, K.Boone, J. Wright, A.Williams, T. Dural, A. Johnson and others.

Good luck with that one Shama fans !!!

And the talent is just better. I think by halftime of the North Texas game even LSU fans will be wondering how the frick Miles won any games the past 4 years.

I try not to get too optimistic (too many body blows in the 90's) but yeah, if the QB play improves like I think it will the perception of what CLM accomplished from 2008-2011 will change greatly, just got to have have the patience of time. Till then it's the Cocoa Puff kids and ButthurtNation I'm afraid...oh well.

just because you keep telling yourself you have the best "stable" of backs in the country...doesn't mean its true....BUT BUT WE HAVE 5th and 6th stringers that can start at any program in the nation.

You have not had any offensive game changers in the last 4 to 5 yrs. Miles offensive recruiting has been sub par.

Miles is suposed to be an O-line guy, but there have been no elite offensive lineman either. Faulk maybe, but meh.

Ruben Randle has been the best skill player Miles has recruited and he was Barely a 2nd rd pick and had very little impact in his 3 yrs in Red Stick.

Mean While Bama has had 4 1st Rd offensive draft picks in the last 4 years. All of LSU talent elite talent has been on defense.

LSU has not had one game changer on offense since Saban and Jimbo were doing the recruiting.

That's like, your opinion man. We've had some pretty good WRs and RBs and a few QBs that didn't work out for various reasons (RP-head case and ZL-MLB draft). It happens.

Again, o-line hasn't been a problem and this year's line if full of elite.

He seemed to do ok against Bama a few times and don't you think the QB had a little something to do with that?

quote:

Mean While Bama has had 4 1st Rd offensive draft picks in the last 4 years. All of LSU talent elite talent has been on defense.

Then how in the wild world of fricks is Bama not undefeated every year? I say that's a coaching problem imo.

quote:

LSU has not had in game game changers on offense since Saban and Jimbo were doing the recruiting.

Well then Miles should get a fricking coaching award for winning as many games as he has since he's been here.

I don't really see why all these threads pop up. Just like every year, LSU and Alabama will be a very close matchup. The national title game was really the only game that was lopsided and the QB play was the reason. Jefferson's performance was way outside of the norm for these two teams and honestly so was McCarron's.

You're matching up two teams with great defense and offensive line play. Games like that can go any direction much like an NFL game.

LSU had good WRs when Saban and Jimbo were there. Not so much since. They get highly rated guys who become bust or were flat out overratted to begin with. A few good Rbs, but not like when Vincent,Addia,Brossaurd were there.

Russell and Flynn were Saban/Jimbo QBs, after that it been all crap.

LSU has had one of the worst offense in the country for 3 yrs straight I don't see that changing with this current staff and roster of players.

LaFell, Tolliver, Byrd and Randall weren't too bad. Hester, Ridley, Scott, Keiland and current backs aren't anything to shake a stick at either.

Can't argue there. However, Les struck out on two guys that could've stabilized that position. That's been his biggest downfall since he's been here and he looks to have changed that now.
