Can't compare the 2, too many variables plus the 49ers roster is much better than what Saban inherited at Miami (old defense with no offensive threats). Saban did decent in NFL as did Pete Carrol. That league is much tougher than cfb, esp. when you're at a top program.

Williams costed Miami a ton of draft picks and he chose drugs and training in acupuncture over getting hit on the medial collateral ligament.

Alright I'm gonna try to keep my homerness out of this. Harbaugh is the man. He is a great fit in the NFL because he has that tough guy persona and can really motivate NFL guys. He's also really helped Smith improve. I would take Harbaugh over most coaches in the NFL right now. He's really good. Now, when it comes to college a person would have to be an absolute idiot to not take Saban over every other coach in the country. He works his arse off and dominates almost every aspect of college football. I'm more of a college fan and wouldn't take a single coach in college or the NFL over him.....in college of course.

Sorry, but if Harbaugh could coach the Bama players he would have won every game by 60. We may never know how good of a recruiter he was because he coached at Stanford. Truth is the guy can flat out coach better than Saban at both levels.
Saban probably is a better recruiter though, don't know if I have ever seen someone who was better.

Fact is....you can't just be a good coach and be successful in college. Recruiting is a HUGE part of it and Saban is the best. Harbaugh was and would have continued to be awesome in college. But right now Saban would be good for at least one NC at almost any popular college that wanted to hire him. There would be no reason to take someone over Saban in college. Harbaugh and other are great......Saban is damn near a sure thing when trying to win NCs.

Saban and Meyer are the most successful CFB coaches of this era. I don't see how you can say Harbaugh is a better coach at the college level. Saban just went 48-6 and 2 NC's in 4 yrs. Meyer is the only one with a record that came close to matching that and Saban basically "made his arse quit" the SEC.

Harbaugh has had great success at Stanford and San Fran. Much harder to do that than at LSU and Bama.

Jim Harbaugh took over 1-11 Stanford. on his first year, he beat USC team loaded with 5* players. USC was favored by 41 points at the Coliseum, so it was statistically the greatest upset in college football history. now that's good coaching, folks.
a couple of years later Stanford dropped 55 points at the Coliseum, making Pete Carroll his bitch again.

Fact is the year before Saban got there the Dolphins were 4-12 --Saban went 9-7 and 6-10.
The year after Saban left the Dolphins went 1-15.
So Saban went 15-17 while the talent around him had bookend 4-12 ans 1-15 years pr 5-27.
And Saban wanted Drew Brees but management forced the other QB on him.
This proves 90 % of people dont know what the hell there talking about.
Saban was likely a year away from getting fired.

Saban is a better college coach, and Harbaugh is obviously a better NFL coach. The best of the best win on the biggest stage, and that's the NFL. It's harder to win in the NFL and Harbaugh is doing exactly that in just his first year.
