Sure, but as SOME of us tried to point out, he's the weakest link in your pass coverage. But suggesting that set the 'tards off on a tirade about heismans, badgers, fumbles, and I think a cobra or something.
He's a good player. He's also not a great coverage corner.

Didn't he also have some issues in Knoxville going up against Da'Rick Rogers as well?
Yes and for this very reason I dont see him being a high draft pick. Face it NFL recievers would be licking their chops to line up across from this guy. There is a reason there have only been 3 or 4 corners under 6 ft drafted in the first two rounds over the last 3 years and only 1 or 2 under 190 lbs. Does anyone think he could effectivily jam Julio at the line of scrimage. The pros dont burn a high round draft picks on undersized nickle backs who can return punts. And before anyone says "Javier Arenas" remember his cover skills are much better than TM7.

Uh...he's still pretty bad arse.

Use him as a nickel guy. Have him cover the slot and blitz.

Not against our "average" offense. That's 2 games he didn't do shite.

He had 6 solo tackles last night. He didn't make any big plays, granted, but saying he didn't do shite isn't accurate at all.

Okay so what does it say for your D when a corner is one of your leading tacklers?

All you A-holes commenting on The Badger would take him in a minute!!

I guess that means Mo Claiborne had a bad game since he didn't have a lot of tackles?
There's a reason we spent 44 days targeting one corner and not throwing at the other.

I get your point, but TM7 is used a lot differently than just a straight-up CB. He's our leading tackler, so we put him in positions to do that at the line. He actually played pretty darn well against the run.

Exactly - Mo is a pure cover corner. TM7 is more of a hybrid player. They are used completely differently. Trying to define or measure TM7s ability by the pure definition of a cover corner isnt going to give you an accurate picture of his impact, because that isn't what he is.

Arguing that Mathieu isn't a great college football player is just stupid.
However, all the "best defensive player in the country" type hype is almost as absurd.
He makes a lot of game changing plays but it's fairly clear to most fans who pay attention (not to mention the Alabama offensive coordinator) that Claiborne, Reid, Washington, Mingo and the rest of the line are the one's that actually change/dictate a game plan.

Don't act like Bama doesn't have it's share of em too. TM7 will be just fine and you will have to deal with him again real soon.

Well either you have 5 great defensive players or you're contradicting yourself. Maybe its in the definition. I believe great players play great in big games. TR did in both games. We avoided Claiborne but went after TM7 all night. And took advantage of him ALL NIGHT. He missed tackles and got outplayed several other times. How can you put "great" next to his name?

Our defense played great last night, and did more than enough to win.
Our offense just did not help them out. I blame the coaches for the loss. They did not have the offense ready to play.

He's a liability in man coverage. He's an average tackler (face it, if Dre Kirkpatrick had allowed a receiver to drag him to the first down marker the way the Honey Hamster had Hanks abuse him, there'd be 100 gifs of it on the Rant).
He has decent quickness & instincts. He's allowed to freelance because of the talent around him, not because of his own. For him to be invited to NY was a travesty.
