Nick Saban: The Greatest

Nick Saban's career coaching record is 145-54-1. This is a truly remarkable achievement considering he coached at Toledo, Michigan State, a weak(when he arrived) LSU program, and a weak (when he arrived) Alabama program. He is currently 54-12 during his time at Alabama after taking over an abysmal program. When Saban arrived at LSU in 1999 the program had been unranked for over 2 years and was near the bottom of the SEC... he won a National Championship there also. Les Miles inherited a gold mine from Saban at LSU and has continued the success there. Saban is one of the top 10 coaches of all-time

He's good, but so many people don't even consider him the best coach in the game today. How can he be the "Greatest"? I'll answer that for you, he's not.

Yes. Saban is greatest ever. Happy now?

No doubt. He's definitely top 10 all time. Whoever, at LSU hired him and followed it up by hiring Miles, should be on our selection committees for life!

He's not the "greatest" in-game coach imo, but as a team manager, recruiter, and implementer he is unsurpassed

Looks like you need a pair of these as well.

nice backpeddle OP - either make a post and own it, or don;t post - its pretty much that simple.
the thread didn't go the way you thought it would - so you backed off your OP stance.

So Saban is better than Bear?
Not even close... 6 National Championships...Over 300 wins

Well your title is misleading. Make up your mind

Saban has the identical winning percentage to the Bear after 200 games.
Bear's record after 200 games: 139-48-13, .7275 winning percentage, 6-3-1 bowl record, 1 national championship, 3 conference championships, 8 top 10 finishes, 3 top 5 finishes,
Saban's record after 200 games: 145-54-1,.7275 winning percentage, 6-6 bowl record, 2 national championships, 3 conference championships, (likely) 7 top 10 finishes, (likely) 3 top 5 finishes,
Of course, there is one huge difference between the two. The Bear was 50 years old after his first 200 games. Saban just turned 60 a couple months ago. He'll basically need to age as well as Bobby Bowden did as the coach at Florida State to be mentioned in GOAT conversations with Bryant, Bowden, and Paterno.
