TWO years? Do you mean to tell me that half the players on the team had been on teams that finished in the top 20 before Saban arrrived? And during those two years LSU had two first round and two second round NFL draft picks? And that half the players had won two bowl games and went 26-20 in the four years before Lord Saban's arrival?

LSU wasn't as far down as you Bamatards wish it was.

Why are you Bama fans so obsessed with Saban and LSU anyway? Insecure much?

If you remember back to after the 3rd game of the 1998 season, LSU was in the TOP 5 going into that Georgia game and the Quincy Carter debacle that started the landslide that was the rest of the 98 season.

The fact that we had so much talent to be ranked in the TOP 5 during the 98 season just shows how good a recruiter Dinardo was and how stacked he left the stables for Saban. For all the coaching flaws of Dinardo and his stubborness to keep assistants which ultimately led to his firing, he was a damn good recruiter. This Bama fan needs to get off his knees and do his homework and research a little better.

You're kidding I hope. LSU's late 90's teams were fricking loaded. Saban didn't walk into a bare cupboard much like he didn't walk into a bare one at Bama.

Yes he was. He was handed a team 2 years removed from a top 5 ranking (when at LSU) and he was handed a team 2 years removed from a 10 win season (at Alabama) with arguably the most support and an open checkbook to whatever he needed facilities wise, financially, etc etc.

Is he a great coach? Sure he is. But don't act like he didn't fall into a great situation at Bama AND LSU. Heck as much as he put LSU back on the national map, LSU made him a household name and a national head coach . Who was Saban before he came to LSU? A pretty good assistant under Bellicheck and a mediocure coach at Michigan state.

He made LSU relevant in a collegiate sport other than baseball... so please, a little respect for Coach.

Les Miles has lost 6 OOC games in 11 years at OSU and LSU, how many OOC games has Saban lost in 10 years at LSU and Alabama?

7

Including UAB, ULM, Iowa and Utah.

No one said he didn't. But you just cant sit there and act like he built the program from scratch. Dinardo left him some hosses.

No disrespect taken, but like I said, who was Saban before he came to LSU? After the 99 season, was he on any bodies top 5 wish list who needed a head coach? Heck, the only reason LSU fans knew who he was was because we remembered whipping his arse in the independence bowl in 95. To say we had mixed feelings and a wait and see attitude going into the 2000 season is exactly how I rememberd it.

And just how would Saban have reacted to taking over a program and having the worst man-made disaster slam your team for the first month of the season, not to mention having to play ELEVEN STRAIGHT WEEKS without a bye, and still make the SECCG ???
Probably would have played the schedule out just like Miles did. What other choice would he have had?
quote:

How would he have reacted to having to play a true freshman QB and throw him to the SEC wolves right before the season because his 5 star QB had
been dismissed from the team?
He would have started Hatch and Lee, just like Miles did.

This knighting of Les Miles based on what any other rational person would have done under the same circumstances has to stop.

Amazing job Saban has done when considering the shape of the programs when he took over
Bama was fortunate that we got Saban when he was looking to come back to the college game.

It's been Sweet having Bama in the National Title Picture again these last 4 Seasons

LSU was ranked #6 in the nation 13 months prior to Saban taking the job (Oct 1998). Alabama had gotten to #3 (Nov 2006). He did not inherit programs that was devoid of talent. Saban is a great coach, but do not lie to yourself about the state of the programs when he took over.

Saban's quote after he was given the LSU head coaching job was, " I can't believe they havent't won a national championship with all of this talent".
Thus he signs a contract that gives him a penny more a year than the highest paid coach in the NCAA, who was at that time Big Game Stoops, who he beat for the Natl. Championship in 04.
So he, like Miles were handed a top notch football program that needed a kick in the butt to contend for titles, as they are now.
Oh, and Saban is 2-3 against Miles btw.

Aren't y'all glad he has an ego and has to try something different every few years, else you would have to be dealing with him every year at LSU.

Nick Saban's career coaching record is 145-54-1.

Besides his 6-6 Bowl record, remember that one of those loses was at LSU to Alabama Birmingham, and the bowl loss to UTAH! of all teams!

Les has never lost any games to those caliber teams.
