Why? The guy couldn't even make it through Alabama's lineman camp.

We just need a guy with upside who can learn and be a backup. We'll have Dismukes for the foreseeable future, and Burgess can back him up the next two years. Cochran will have time to improve or get passed up by another prospect from a future class. He'll serve as depth

Yea, plus the fact that he's a buddy of an highly touted OT that we're after...
It would really help our chances

Cochran has some bad weight and needs more strength but other than that he's solid. He got out and busted his arse at camps all across the country this past summer so I'm sure after a few seasons on campus he will be allot different physically.
He's also the reason we ended up getting Darren Lake

ah, yes... the be all end all -- the Alabama Lineman Camp... where an average showing means one is doomed for San Jose State 3rd string center....

Ricardo's highlights looked like he was playing against Pop Warner team. Is that a small school in Miami? Those Defenses looked slow and weak.

I don't believe so

I'm just suprised Auburn would take him, considering how he struggled at a few camps.

Maybe he's better in pads? Idk, I haven't seen him play, and I don't really care because I don't think he'll see the field unless we have injuries. He'll serve as good depth

Honestly, I'd play Cochran at DT.
Crazy I know, but he's too comfortable playing at the size he is now. Sometimes when you make them lose a significant amount of weight, they aren't the same player anymore.
Just a thought...

I'm not sure you guys realize what size he is now, based on your comments. He's lost 30 lbs since his flop at Alabama's camp.
In regards to Capstone's expert assessment... there's more that goes into being a good player than performance at one camp. Attitude, smarts, resiliency, effort, etc...
The kid has picked himself up nicely.
Is he an all-world prospect? No. Is he a very talented football player? Yes.

You should write the Auburn coaches a letter expressing your concerns.
The kid is still in high school. He won't see the field for 3 years as Dismukes will be our center for the next 3 years. Of course he could get hurt, but Cochran has plenty of time to lose bad weight, gain strength, work on technique, etc etc etc.

I had not, but my thought of him playing DT still stands. I've watched him play defense, I think he's better there. Although, having Aziz Shittu next to you might make you look good.
And even if he lost 30 Lbs, 310 is still big for a HS Center...

It was a testament to the talent Auburn has signed lately, but leave it to outrage being the theme in this thread all of a sudden.

There hasn't been anything in a while, relative to Alabama about his recruitment.

He visited Purdue a weekend or two ago, but other than that there hasn't really been any news on him on either side I guess.
ETA: Wait, didn't he officially visit this past weekend to Bama?

Rumor is one of the reasons for his visit was to bond with Bush
