No you don't. In 2009 Alabama how many deep passes did McElroy hit?

No he doesn't. Passes from 0-15 are all you need to keep defenses honest and move the chains.
We don't have to throw deep a lot to win, but when we do throw deep it needs to be accurate or else the whole point of going deep is negated. If the safeties don't respect our deep ball ability, they will stack the box. It did not matter against Florida, but you won't win every game rushing against 8 men in the box.

FL team are as advertised by the pre-season experts. Third best team in the East and sixth or seventh best in the SEC.

And then they will get screened to death like everyone else. Alabama will find ways to open up the run. It's what they do. Julio rarely caught a deep ball in 2009. He was more of a possession receiver than anything else. Alabama has been winning without the deep pass forever.

Bama will be 14-0 come January.

he didn't say they were blitzing safeties
i really wouldn't want to screen against a D who isn't blitzing with safties close to the line

yeah dre just missed engaging and debose is really fast. i don't know if debose can do anything other than that right now, but he is going to get some TDs in the demetrius byrd role for UF
It was a fabulous play call as well. UF's deep ball ability was not respected by Bama at all in game prep because they rarely threw downfield all season. Our plan was to play man all day and stop Rainey/Demps. Brantley was on fire with no pressure, but once we started hitting him, UF's inability to run the ball against a competent defense did them in.

this bama team is the real deal IMO

When has Alabama had a deep threat under Saban? Don't say Julio Jones either.

I think your OL can be exploted by a fast team, especially Leadfoot Fluker.
Your rb's are highlight reel quality, but your OL while good, is not dominant and a good team can stack the box w/good cb play and limit rb effectiveness.
I think your WR's are non- elite.
i think we have yet to really see your misdirection game and that will be a big weapon .
I think Maze on the return game is a game-changer.
The season won't hinge on your punter as your D is good enough to compensate.
I think your QB has yet to face a great defense and the jury is still out on how he reacts in a really dire situation.
I think your TE is a tremendous weapon.
I think your defense can only be beat by a physical, well-balanced team.
If a team can't consistently hit the mid-range pass they stand ZERO chance, if that box is stacked.
I think your db's are solid fundamentally, but can and have been burned this year.
Your DL is solid, but unspectacular and the 3-4 recognizes that weakness.
Which brings me to the LB's who are easily the best and most physical in the country.
I think your coach's anus will clench up and he will get WAY too conservative in a big game (read an uber-loose LSU team) and it will cost you Gumps dearly.
If I'm betting, I guess you go 11-1 and win a Bowl and finish in the top 5.

"They will stack the box."
Everyone has done that this year. AJ will continue to complete 10 yd passes for first downs.

Another obsessed LSU fan. Worry about your own team!

Bama's size/speed combination is a tough challenge for anyone. We look like a Big Ten defense with SEC speed.

Lol. Alabama has never had a reliable deep passing game under Saban period and he has still won a ton of games. It's amazing how much Saban has won without a deep passing game or a DL that could sack the QB.

No obsession.
Just a guy who watches college football closely.
I was asked my opinion, so I gave it.
Now, gently Remove the corncob from your arse.

The formula to beat Bama is "punch them in the mouth".
You go right at them.
But first you have to establish the mid-range passing game or else that big 3/4 will be mostly inpenetrable.
If you can do this you can win, if not you lose.
Nobody will beat Bama with disco.
