Who will be Alabama's starting left tackle in 2011?

I hope this question isn't inappropriate but it's been two weeks since Aaron Douglas passed away so I don't think it's too early to ask questions about that position. Am I the only person who's really worried about this position? Alfred McCullough started a couple games at RT last year and was absolutely terrible. Cyrus Kouandijo is only a true freshman and the Andre Smiths of the world are a rare breed. D.J. Fluker isn't quick enough on his feet to deal with the elite pass rushers coming off the edge at LT. Who can step in and do an acceptable job at LT this year?

My hope is that this is a huge weakness for Bama and that your QB/QBs turn out to be a nice shite sandwich. Otherwise, Bama is going to be a damn good team next year.

Alfred was a year ahead of me at Athens. Pretty cool guy. I don't think he should be playing anything but guard.

I'd start Kouandjio. He's gonna be special IMO

Barrett Jones
Cyrus Kouandjio
DJ Fluker
Alfred McCullough
I want Jones there unless Cy just dominates fall camp and take it from him. Fluker still has problems as a RT, no way I'd want him protecting the blindside. McCullough is more suited to being a 6th/Utility/Backup lineman, he's good in spurts, but not enough to start...

Expecting Cyrus to be the backbone of a BCSNC OL is asking a lot of any true freshman

True Freshmen don't start at LT in the SEC no matter how good they are.

Andre did, but that's obviously a glaring exception.

Despite the fact there have been a few the last couple of years in the SEC?

ETA: Forgot about Andre Smith.

They'll probably move Barret over there.

This is true. Tennessee started four last year. At LG, C, RG, and RT. JaWuan James is moving over to LT as a sophomore.

Oher played at Left Guard, I think, before switching over to LT as a sophomore. Maybe Cyrus can make the move during the course of the season.

Best guess is we will start with Jones or McCullough, or both, maybe Fluker also and break in Kouandijo. With, if all goes well, Kouandijo being the starter by the end of the year. Just a guess though.
