ADMIN NOTE: Keep all horticultural smack-talk in this thread.
Edit: From seeing where this post started and where it is evolving to. I thought I might put it in perspective for some of you. I work in the insurance field, so I see stuff similar to this all the time. Not vandalization but losing something that has value other that the replacement cost.
Yes, they are just trees, which can be replanted, and they do have saplings started, but nowhere near big enough. But the value goes way beyond the trees. It is the attachment that every Auburn fan has to them. We celebrate after great victories together as a University underneath them.
I will relate it another way to the people that can’t seem to comprehend. Do you have a family heirloom that has been handed down to you? This is the same. What if someone were to steal that from you? That is how Auburn feels right now. I had a 1911 pistol handed down to me from my father, from his father, that he used in WWI. Some a-hole a few years ago decided they wanted it more than I did and decided to steal it from me. Yes, I can go out and buy a brand new 1911, that is much better than the original, but what is the point. I could care less. That gun belong to my grandpa and help save his life.
During this past season, my wife became pregnant and while celebrating around toomer’s, after a victory, we both commented on how incredible it would be to bring our future child to the same celebrations. But now it will never be the same. I will never be able to tell my kid that he is doing the same tradition that my wife and I did, that her father and mother did, that her grandfather did. Yes the act would be similar, but it won’t be the same.
So if you have some snide comment to make, keep it to yourself and frick off.

Thats not cool. I'm every bit as big of a bama fan as anyone else on this board, and I thougt the grass thing was funny, I mean hell, its grass, but 130 year old trees? This is a new low for this rivalry imo and I am ashamed of this.

Crapp. I'm sorry about this. As a 'Bama fan, if I hear about who did this, I will turn them in to police. I encourage other Alabama fans to do the same.
That's ridiculous!

Hope they catch the a-hole.

Alabama wins this war. Sure, the Barners planted some rye grass but the Gumps took it up about 100 levels. They're fricking up history. Couldn't happen to a nicer bunch.

I thought it was BS when the story first came out on finebaum.
They need to find the piece of shite that did that put him in jail for a while. That's total BS.
I hope Auburn burns to the ground, but killing their trees is crossing the line.
mostly kidding about the burning part.

As long as no people are harmed I think this is hilarious rivalry at its best. I know in the SC-CU rivalry at least one cow and one chicken has died in result of the rivalry. As long as the AU-UA fans are attacking each others plants its a-ok with me.

they're fricking trees. you'll get over it.

I don't approve of this, FWIW. but the Aubs started it with the three dumps they took on T-Town soil. Maybe the Auburn fans should find out who defaced the Statues, planted the rye grass, etc. and police their own fans, too.

I only hope whoever did it is caught and prosecuted to the fullest extent of the law. This makes me sick to my stomach. I want jail time for the redneck who did this.

It was gonna die soon anyway. It was like euthanasia for a tree. IT WAS IN PAIN!
