The Houston market would have to be tapped to increase the TV contracts for the SEC so Texas A&M and/or Houston would have to be included in any expansion talks.

Why in the hell does everyone keep talking about Texas joining the SEC? It's a pipe dream people!!!! It will NEVER happen.
Texas generates enough revenue as the nation's richest, and most profitable football program, with revenues of $53.2 million, and a profit of $38.7 million. And this is not even factoring in the benefits it gets from being one of the top schools in terms of license merchandise sales, much of which is not specifically football related.
So....STFU about Texas joining the SEC. Ain't gonna happen.
If any Texas teams were to join the SEC, the possibilities could be....
1. A&M
2. Baylor
3. TCU
4. Houston
For the East I've always felt we should have another team from Florida, add Clemson, add Ga Tech, and possibly VA or VA Tech.

So even if we played them all at least once we could still have 5 OOC games or 3 OOC games plus 2 games against the SEC EAST.
If this is the case—playing 9 conference games per year instead of 8—that makes expansion more acceptable to me. Exchanging a cupcake for a conference team ain't a bad thing.

Rice is a match for Vandy. Please GFY about what they "bring". Arky and USC were crap when they were added. Houston market is a good one, boost a lil academics too.

Didn't LSU and Rice have some sort of rivalry back in the day too?

Going after texas and texas a&M is smart. However people who think we would get Texas w/o taking tamu is stupid. Also adding clemson florida state and georgia tech all make sense geographically. However this would hurt us in recruiting and tv contracts b/c we are not expanding our markets. This would ultimately weaken the SEC. A more economical fit would be obviously the two texas schools and 2 of the following: Virginia tech, UNC, Duke, NC state, oklahoma, or ok.state.

People.
The SEC isn't going to expand just because the Big 10 and Pac 10 are expanding.
Why on earth would the SEC add Georgia Tech or Clemson? Are they going to deliver more of the market that Georgia or USCe does?
If we can't get the Texas schools, then there is no sense in expanding. Period.
Leave it as it is. It works now.

I think we should drop Alabama and if that were to happen then I don't care what else happens.

A&M is an absolute must in any SEC expansion. Without A&M, any SEC expansion would be a bust. Getting UNC would be a great consolation, but its not going to happen. I can't see another market better than the Houston or Dallas market, and UT isn't coming to the SEC.
The key word in expansion is market. Its one reason the B10 is looking at Rutgers. Even getting Miami, FSU or GT or Clemson will not substantially increase the SEC market.

I vote no against clemson.
There is room for only one Death Valley in the SEC. (Not to mention they stole one of our songs too..."Hold that Tiger")

I believe A&M and Ga tech is a must. Rice is a great idea, didn't even think of them. If this holds, then you need one for the East, Fla St is the biggest fich because of the rivarly already with Fla, a good consolayion would be South Fla. You can forget about UNC or Duke, that is a package and don't see them both coming.

I'm going to disagree here. Someone pointed out earlier the Big 10 and Pac with 16 teams each could tell the BCS to frick off and declare the Rose Bowl winner is the national champ. Would ABC and ESPN not lap this up?

SEC East:

Duke and UNC will never leave the ACC is the problem. And adding those 4 teams wouldn't really help too much in terms of football, but we're probably strong enough already to be honest.
However, that would ultimately become the sickest basketball conference out there.

VT also used up every ounce of Governmental power from UVa to get into the ACC...i have a hard time thinking VT will go anywhere and leave UVa behind...
yup basically VT stabbing the BE in the back and using VA politics to gain entry in the ACC might end up fricking them over in the end
