If you want to lose weight, counting calories will work for some people. But counting calories is not the best way to try to lose weight. Basically if you eat healthy food only you will not be over weight.
My wife has never had a weight problem. She couldn't gain weight to save her life. Then...

Wear is very dependent on what you do in them. If you have a pair that you only were out on the town they will last well over a year. If you have a pair that is used to play tennis one or twice a week or a pair that you go wade fishing in they will not last nearly as long.
