Why? He's accomplished everything a coach wants to accomplish at a University. The challenge is gone with winning two/three championships and the expectations will be rediculous going forward. With Tebow gone next year, maybe he sees the writing on the wall.

A coach like Urban only has the challenge of building a program and seeing how much money he can make left. At ND it looks like he can do both.

When considering he has notheing left to accomplish it makes more sense to go to the NFL.

Meyer's offense would be destroyed by NFL defenses. He will never coach in the League.

it wouldn't work in the nfl. spurrier was bad but meyer would be a trainwreck. no way tebow or any other qb would be able to consistently run the ball in the nfl without taking serious injuries.

Some parts of his offense will. The offenses don't work in the NFL because no one tries them. The NFL is notorious for being bland on offense to the point I can't watch it. I can't stand watching every team run the same plays over and over and over, watch an OC get fired then watch him pack up and move across country to become a CO-OC.

That was not my point.

I was saying if we are going to say he has accomplished everything by winning 2/3 NCs in college going to the NFL is actually a chance to do something different. He might as well stay a football god at UF if it is about college football accomplishments.

Like what? If the QB does anymore than hand-off or throw the ball in the NFL psychos like Ray Lewis will kill them. Also, the defensive coordinators in the NFL would have that shite figured out before the first snap of his first game. No fricking chance.

You can have a more mobile QB in the NFL, most now wait till the last second or throw it away even when they could have grunted a few yards. Most programs won't risk their star taking a breating and possibly being injured but it is very possible.

Remember they said the wild cat would never work as well. As said the NFL has bland offenses mostly due to inbreding of offensive coaches from program to program. Meyer did everything short of calling them ballless, he's given several camps to offensive coaches about his offense and what could be used at the next level yet they are too scared even when they can't come up with a legit defense that would "destroy" it.

It only works in Miami because they use it as a power running game. No chance would any NFL owner risk his 6-10 million dollar a year player in the spread option.

It is a very real possiblitly that Meyer goes to Notre Dame, Miles go to Michigan and two of Saban's main competitors will be gone.

I love how message board posters know Meyer's inner most thougths and feelings about how he personally feels that he has proven all that he can at UF and that taking over at ND is the next challenge he wants to take on in his life.

You just gotta let them have their fun.

If they are right then they will be all like I told you so.

If they are wrong, they won't say anything.

If ND has all that money why is that that their last 3 coaches were Bob Davie, Ty Willingham and Charlie Weis? Keep in mind that they are still paying Willingham and will have to pony up big for CW's huge buyout.

Almost as silly as you UF message board posters thinking you know that he really loves UF like he says he does and will not leave anytime soon...

Hey I get it...UF and Bama fans are tired of hearing that their coach is a candidate for any job...that comes with the territory of hiring a top notch coach...don't be so naive to believe that either one of your coaches loves your university so much that they can't be bought...for one Meyer or Saban don't have an ties to their respective universities except that they are employed by them...there is no sentimental attachments...and for either fan base to think that ND can't offer more money than you is ridiculous...I don't necessarily believe either coach will leave...but Meyer seems more likely of the two...

Go back and read my post v..e..r..y......s..l..o..w..l..y and tell me where I said that I know how he feels.

I was just making the comment that its strange how people on the board seem to know exaclty what he feels is a challenge and what is not.

I hope Kelly takes the job. He is the flavor of the week for all you internet queens.
He will be exposed just like Weis.
Before Weis left Pats, all you piccalo players would have given him a bj to come to Bama,LSU,or Florida.

Agree and disagree. Winning like he has at Florida has been very impressive, but if he were to restore Notre Dame to a national power, in my opinion, that would be about as big of an accomplishment as one could imagine in coaching. He has his own network, possibly the largest (albeit the most disliked) fan base in the county, and if you think Tebow gets sucked off by the media each week is bad, it wouldnt hold a candle to the adulation he would get if Notre Dame was a top 5 team a few years in a row.

Now, that said, I am not sure Bear Bryant, Meyer, Carroll, Bo, Woody, etc could turn present day ND into yesteryear ND, but if you are looking for the career bookend, you either could go from a "great" coach to a legend if you are right in trying, or pocket an obscene amount of cash trying. Hard to imagine him not entertaining the chance.

Wasn't necessarily referring to you...there have been several UF'ers here that have said Urban won't leave UF anytime soon because he loves it so much...I was just pointing out that Urban has no sentimental attachments to UF...his words mean nothing...no one...not even UF fans know what he is thinking....BTW...

But if anyone has an idea of what Meyer is thinking it is UF fans. And to say his word means nothing is completely ridiculous. Meyer has been very influential in the Gainesville community the last 5 years and has worked tirelessly to build UF to this point. It is easy for us to say he loves being here, the results speak for themselves.

To say Alabama could outbid ND would be idiotic. Their endowment is like 5 billion isn't it? But it's also silly to think Bama couldn't pay $10 million+.

The same could be said about Ole Miss fans about Tubby or LSU/Dolphins fans about Saban, or Louisville/Falcons fans about Petrino...or any other coach for that matter...what else is he going to say when asked? What else is he going to do...coaches have to be involved and influential in the communities of the school they coach...they are trying to get credibility...most coaches do work hard to build the program they are at...to A) keep a job or B) build there name up for a better job...
