it is funny how bama does not think saban would be interested in nd...they have the history and they certainly have more money than bama and florida combined...nd has a ton of money...exclusive nbc contract and one easy road to the ncg...

I would be very surprised if Saban gets that offer.

If they wanted him they'd get him no question, Weiss is the second highest paid coach in all of college football if they wanted to pay Saban 8 mil per year they could easily do it. ND and some other schools have VERY strict contracts that hamstring them in recruiting requiring the coaches to not even come close to crossing the line in violations. Michigan has a clause if you get busted by the NCAA for ANY violation they can fire you at any point and fine the coach along with not paying his buyout. Saban would never agree to that.

That's a big deal for ND to approve that. They did was for a QB that ended up winning the NC for Holtz.

You'd think ND would learn a lesson about long contracts.

No program in college football can out spend ND, not even close. Weiss is currently the second highest paid coach in all of college football. Bama could not afford to pay Saban 8 mil per year plus bonuses the athletic program would require massive influx of cash each year. Essentially you'd have to shut down other programs just to keep the football program alive unless your boosters like literally paying each year to cover Saban's salary. ND can do this and not dip into anything other than their normal income.

this is dead on..people from bama have no clue what they are talking about...the nd program has way more money than alabama ever could...bama would have to shut down and cut out so many programs to compete with nd...the state is so poor!!!

I think it's funny how you're obsessed with the unlikely possibility that Saban would go to ND considering he was never even mentioned in the original post. I realize you're jealous that Bama has Saban but get over it.

And there is more to luring coaches than money alone. ND has an easier path to get into the BCS thanks to their contract, but you completely neglected to mention how much more difficult it is to recruit at ND than at a school like Bama. And Bama has "history," too, in case you live in a cave.

Then there's always a family decision, as Meyer's quote about choosing Florida alluded to earlier. Saban's daughter is a freshman in a sorority at Alabama, and she isn't gonna transfer. So, do you really think he wants to just leave her behind?

I realize you're just saying all of this because you're trying to incite a reaction from Bama fans, but maybe you could think before posting next time.

Freshman sorority girls have a way of adjusting to a move. If the deal is right, she'll be a happy camper with her new friends and new sorority.

Could anyone imagine little Saban in a Pope hat?

I think Meyer is who they go after, but I doubt they go after someone who isn't 100% legit.

It would be money if they criss cross the country and are turned down by every top coach in the business. ND's massive collective ego would suffer permanent damage.

UofA only pays saban 250,000 a year, they would have no problem finding alumni willing to pay the 4 mill
