Not a single starter was a Michigan signee. School pride is dead….RIP!

happy 2000s fan:
I love college sports more than pros since professional sports fans are really just cheering for a jersey, the players are mercenaries from all four corners of the earth.
How many New York Yankees are from New York? How many Arsenal players are from London? Now I ask you, how many Alabama players are from Alabama or Ohio State players from Ohio? There you go.

College sports are a joke. It’s really not even worth watching.

This is probably going to be the way it is for all eternity. Those schools like Michigan that have absurd NIL budgets are going to dominate pretty much every year. Same in football.
I'm sure every 20-30 years, some team will have a player like Bobby Bouchet from "The Water Boy" that can elevate an average team to greatness or a school has some weird, one a million stretch of luck to win a game or two but that won't be the norm.
I do think eventually NIL is going to completely kill fan interest in the games and when that happens, the entire system will collapse. People will stop watching, stop spending absurd amounts on attending games, buying merch, etc.

That collapse will happen sooner than folks think.

Big 10 won the Football title and both basketball titles.
Meanwhile Sankey is filing affidavits against his own schools. Cuck bastard.

I wonder if muted championship celebrations are because of this. When you have been to several schools its hard to get as excited.
Michigan's top 5 scorers:
3 schools in 6 years
2 schools in 2 years
2 schools in 3 years
2 schools in 3 years
1 school in 1 year
It's not good for the game.

I’m sure some TV exec can show us a balance sheet and tv ratings chart to prove otherwise, but I don’t think it’s good long term either.

Id be very interested to learn what actual demand for season tickets was this year.
I was offered some things I'd never been offered via tide pride (granted the prices had gone up for them).

When is the last time Bama had a senior night for basketball and the seniors started at Alabama? I'm not including walk ons. It's been several years.

My last season tickets package was 2023. Figured that was a good year to bow out.

Plenty of people I know who had been in TP for decades gave their tix up this year.

It was interesting maybe I can pull up the numbers I saw in my account as far as past payments annually but I think I spent like 75%+ more this year than I did precovid on tickets and seat donations for the same package and none of it is a tax writeoff now unless I transfer it to my business or something.
It was also interesting how many new faces seats were being sold on the secondary market most weeks in my section compared to precovid when it was basically stable for a decade.

Except for the actual game on the field, it’s basically a different sport than what it was just two years ago. Expanded playoff makes regular season games less meaningful and the portal/NIL means less of a connection to the rosters.
Throw in the move to ESPN and really feels like the version of college football we all loved ended on the field at the Rose Bowl two years ago.

Ours too. We dropped our season tickets after '23 season. Thought I would miss going to the games. But so far, I don't miss it a bit. Some of due to the hassle associated with going, the exorbitant prices and advancing ages!! LOL.
