This thread is worthless

Pay him, pay Tahaad, pay KO, pay SWAy, pay Jovic. Then go from there.

Sway plans to sit down with Pearl to discuss his future.

In football, I think it was about 30% of players went in the portal across the country.

In basketball, it’s probably more.

Good players will test the market.

Where are the “market-rate” coaching search dudes?

What is the market?

SWA has big time potential. I was pleased he went 2 for 2 from stripe last night. He needs to learn to “play fast, but don’t hurry.”

Freeman is a twitchy next level athlete, but he needs to develop physically.

Jovic is raw undersized, bouncy big. I hope he can develop a perimeter shot.

That is a good way to put it. He plays out of control. When he tries to play strong he is too strong sometimes. There was one game in the NIT where he got the offensive rebound, pump faked, and then exploded up. I guess he was either juiced or he was posturing but his putback from under the net bounced on top of the backboard. lol

I wonder if he understands how important it is to have a bag of moves like Broome had or if he only shot putbacks, layups, and dunks in HS. That's the next level of progression for him. Become less athlete and become more basketball player.

Love his hustle and attitude. He’s got good low post moves for a guy his size but needs to work on his hands. He is not a sure-handed ball handler and he’s gonna need to be if he’s setting himself up to back a guy down and make a move. He also needs to learn to defend without fouling, and develop a 10-15’ shot. I expect a huge improvement from him next year. Even as such, I don’t think he’s a SEC starter. I think he would stay as a guy who gets 15-20 min a game.

Of all the players potentially coming back, SWA and Freeman have the biggest upside.

Hope he stays, but Haad is going to bolt, would be my guess.

sorry, I don't get it.

Pett is not a PG and is a major reason for our lack of quality play this year.

KO is a must keep.

SWA didn't improve at all this year. He was a train off the track from game 1. He is a freshman and will hopefully improve, but I am not sure he has earned the bag yet.

Jovic made the most improvement this year. Hopefully we can keep him.

Our roster was lacking and we need to make major improvements. More size and we need a solid PG.

“Pay Tahaad” doesn’t mean keep him as the starting 1 lol. He’s best in an off guard role so we’d almost assuredly still be shopping around for a PG

The problem is......he is a 1 at the next level. That is his only shot. He will demand to be a 1.

ETA Freeman, KO, and Jovic are the only "must keeps" on our roster, IMO. We talked, from early on, how it is a flawed roster. That didn't change at the end of the year.

We don’t know that he’ll “demand” that… his greatest earning potential right now (NIL) is being a combo guard who fills it up. He’s not even on draft boards right now… that’s not likely to change even if he improves as a 1.

I like the guys on the team that could return but I’m not sure any other then KO are due a raise. Actually Tahaad probably should take a pay cut.

If Freeman, SWA, and Jovic are making chump change sure give them a small increase but those guys until proven differently are you backups not your starters if you want to compete for SEC and a chance in the NCAA tournament. They are good players and would make great role players. All 3 would just be in their 2nd season with the program and at times their minutes were limited.

Petitford would be welcomed back by me. He is a stud even when he does not shoot the three very well. He can slice and dice all the way to the rack any time he wants to. We used to have players that could not and that harmed our 3 point shooting as help defenders did not have to help as much.

Petitford does not hit the pick and roll pass very well; he simply does not see the pass quick enough or he is predetermined. He throws lobs that are not there.

I am very partial to Petitford still. I love his game and his aura. Petitford could afford to have another running mate that is similarly dynamic at attacking the rim. A Billy Richmond character. Someone that doesnt often make the stick. Freeman could be that guy but he needs to be more aggressive when he receives the ball from outside the paint.

The problem is letting our experience go keeps us in a loop of resetting the roster. Every one deals with it to a degree, but we aren't spending the money Michigan is so we have to keep in mind experience matters.

I want him back too. He has all the tools to be an elite pg. He imo needs to be less casual with the ball, get stronger and get in the gym to regain his confidence in his jump shot. Hopefully that happens here

Portal opens tomorrow for 2 weeks so we should have a good idea of who is staying fairly soon

With my low basketball IQ, it seems as he regressed this year compared to last.

It seemed he slipped a lot more, had the ball straight up stripped and didn’t run many plays.

What happened to passing 3-4 times before getting a shot. A lot of ISO ball.

As did his supporting cast. Coincidence?
