No, Will Wade did not play high school basketball. According to reports, he played golf and was a four-year student manager for his high school basketball team at Franklin Road Academy in Nashville. He went on to become a college student manager

How IN THE HELL do you hire a basketball coach that didn't even play in high school??

I'm pissed off enough that we hired our second football coach that didn't play in college.

But DIDN'T PLAY IN HIGH SCHOOL?

No wonder he's never won anything and was fired for cheating

What a dumb sentiment. Many good coaches did not play the sport at least on a high level.

Harry Rex: "Siri, are there any pictures of Will Wade playing basketball in junior high?"

Siri: "No."

Why does that matter? He's a good coach. NC State would tell you that.

I think every team would want a good coach that wins games.

AI Overview

Based on ESPN reports from 2021, current LSU coach Will Wade did not play high school basketball, and it is implied he did not play in junior high either. Instead, he focused on golf and served as a four-year student manager at Franklin Road Academy in Nashville, later becoming a student manager at Clemson.

Such a dumb post.

Here are a few coaches who were very successful but did not play sports in high school. There are many examples, but here are a few…

Todd Haley NFL HC
Mike Leach NCAAF HC
Joe Madden MLB Manager
Eric Spoelstra NBA HC

Alexa, did Mike Leach play footballl???

No, legendary college football coach Mike Leach did not play college football. Despite his massive influence on the game, he never played at that level and was a rugby player at BYU instead.

Private high school in Tennessee in the 90s wasn't exactly super high level.

Todd Haley NFL HC
- Did not play football in high school. Was also 28–38 as an NFL HC, so I'm not sure he would qualify as "very successful"
Mike Leach NCAAF HC
- Played football in high school
Joe Madden MLB Manager
- Played baseball in college, so I assume he played in high school
Eric Spoelstra NBA HC
- played basketball in high school and college
