OU chose “not” to play in it. In NIL and transfer era it’s hard to get players to buy in if they know they’re transferring.

If Auburn wins this tournament then I will congratulate them and loudly proclaim them to be 69th best team.

Depends on criteria and agenda.

They made an 8-3 finish and looked great. But they had a 9 game losing streak prior.

The committee can use whatever they want depending on agenda.

If they wanted to keep another SEC out then the losing streak works.

If they want a team close to other bubble teams but playing top 20 ball at end of season, they could have easily justified putting them in too.

Some years teams finishing strong get the nod. This year nope. I don’t know the makeup of committee nor marching orders so it would be a guess.

That's an old joke and an inaccurate one. The winner of the NIT is probably really about the 35-40th best team. The NCAA tournament admits a lot of auto bid scrubs.

Anyway, good for Auburn. I hope they win it. OU and Ole Miss should be ashamed for chickening out.

Well those #16 seed scrubs Prairie View A&M or Lehigh will be getting a chance to play the Mighty Gators in the big dance unlike Auburn and Auburn beat us already this season.

One has to wonder if the AU boosters forced him to accept this NIT bid knowing the team would quit on him. Is this just a ploy to look for an excuse to get him out sooner?

If you decline the NIT you should be placed on probation for the next year and not be eligible for the NCAA

Oklahoma declined? Shouldn’t be eligible for the NCAA tourney next year

You know nothing. If players din’t want to play how can you force them? Some have expired their time and others may go transfer portal. Its a meaningless event. No one even remembers who won last year.

As a player it could get you hurt. Could lower your stock. Could hurt your transfer options. For a meaningless trophy? And it costs the school money that could be put into program.

I have no problems with teams opting out. In modern era of unlimited transfers it does nothing. You can’t practice for next year because most players won’t be on roster. Every team will bring in new players so there is no chemistry to be gained. And the extra expense for players families to attend as well.

if the team quits on him, that is more an indictment on the players

that being said - not sure why we accepted

That's pathetic

7 or 8 of your youngest players would have loved to take the court and fight it out for OU

absolutely pathetic move by OU

Correct

embarrassing, and disrespectful to their backups who would love to play
