I don’t see how boosters spend $50 million on a roster and not expect immediate results. If they don’t make the playoff at a minimum this year, it will be a failure with all the talent they have

It LSU goes 7-5 or 8-4 again this season like they usually do, it will be interesting to see if LSU fans go into "Rome wasn't built in a day and Kiffin just needs more time to get the right players for his system" mode, even though they spent all off-season celebrating their portal class and how their coach is the Portal King, and the portal means that rebuilds don't have to take as long as they used to.

If you finish number 1 in the portal rankings, all of the "brick by brick solid foundation" shite goes out the window if your team underperforms, but LSU fans would probably do it anyway.

I've been saying that people are going way overboard with the expectations. A new offensive system and 60 new players with a QB that won't participate in spring practice is a lot to overcome even for the best coaches. I am more interested in how Lane coaches the games in year 1 than I am in how many he wins. Will he coach like he's at a contender or will he continue the Madden bullshite on 4th down? That is what I am looking for in 2026.

Why do you think they spent $50 million?

A QB that is pretty average at that. I wouldn't be surprised if one of the other transfer QBs won the job.

Rival fans are the ones insisting LSU should make the playoffs, etc, I'm expecting something like 8-4.

Year 1 is always tough, plus the reasons Lunatik listed. LSU plays 10 P4 opponents with 5 SEC road games.

Because they didn't have $60 million?

9-3 and missing out on the CFB Playoff with a shot at a 10th win in a bowl game would be an outstanding first season. I think that the USC QB wins the starting job and keeps it. Lisfranc injuries are no joke.

I would say Curt Cignetti understands it better than Kiffin. He took a team who was the worst in the history of CFB and in 2 years won a national title with transfers.

If Kiffin was as good as Cig he would have won national titles at a school who had far better talent when he got there

TL, you are one of the rare Tiger faithful on here who looks at things with a level head and a sense of humor. Your brethren on here are the polar opposites of that.

I've said it before; but, there is no fanbase and no coach in college football more poorly matched than Lane Kiffin and LSU. His snarky tweets in March and April are bread to the masses now. If he tweets the week before or after LSU loses a game (especially to OM, Bama or A&M), tRant is going to explode. When he inevitably goes for it on 4th and 3 from his own 28 and doesn't make it; or, tries a 4-wide jet sweep reverse out of the shotgun on the 2 yd line the Rantards are going to lose their everloving minds. And if he Lanes a game against the Kentuckys or States of the world the melts will be catastrophic.

The Rantards have done waaaaaaaaay to much woofing and chirping about the hire, the booster money and the portal pickups. Anything less than an undefeated national championship season is going to be viewed as an intentional betrayal by Lane.

every schools booster spend millions. So it will be a disappointment for any team not to make the CFB playoffs.

He's a good coach but I wouldn't expect him to stop the Madden bullshite. He's will always follow the "analytics", it's who he is.

I'm just like anyone else. Talk shite about my team and end up being wrong and I'm gonna let people know about it. But, as far as making predictions, I am not into all of that. There are too many unknowns this upcoming season.
