Spurrier is right.... once again.

Yet Spurrier understands that embracing the new wrinkles of college football is the only way to win. When asked for his thoughts on Ole Miss signing a player who was already signed and taking classes at Clemson, Spurrier started getting on Tigers coach Dabo Swinney. “I thought by now somebody would have told Dabo, ‘Dabo, there ain’t no rules anymore,’” Spurrier said. “I don’t know if they’re ever gonna enforce any rules now or not.” He continued: “You can complain, but I don’t know how (much) good it’s gonna do. There’s no rules.”

As spot on as it gets.

As much as I hated him in the 90s, I have learned to like the OBC. And he is usually right.

You should have great reverence for the man who annihilated UGA football for over a decade. You know the same spot we're currently in with Kirby.

Kirby doesn't run up the score on lesser opponents with his starters like Spurrier did at Florida.

That is true. Spurrier was notorious for running up the score.

Who did Spurrier run the score up with his starters? I don't recall this, but some of you Georgia guys know more about Gator football than I, so I'm not saying you are wrong, but I think you are.

He yanked Wuerffel in the 3rd, so not with starters. But, what an all time quote from Spurrier.

We hate them when they are in the middle of kicking all our asses, but we love our SEC legends in retirement. Spurrier is a beauty.

The problem. No REAL men in control of the NCAA or much of anything else. Look at the NFL. How does commissioner keep his job? Girly men, Only girly men!

That’s not what I posted.
I do like and respect him, though.

I think I remember Spurrier getting pissed and throwing a bomb with like eight seconds left in a 59-31 win against Kentucky (maybe 2000 ish - I would have been in middle school). Spurrier said something like "Yeah, I called it (the bomb); if they want to get mad, they can do something about it in Lexington (the next year). They were padding their stats, so we wanted to pad ours, because ours was a hurtin'". Spurrier hated Hal Mumme for some reason, but he REALLY HATED Bill Curry from their Georgia Tech days.
Spurrier is a guy that you HATED because he was kicking your team's arse, but you love him now.
The correct quote is below:
Then with under a minute to go and a three-touchdown lead, Spurrier called for a bomb, rather than taking a knee to end the game. Rex Grossman hit Jabar Gaffney for a 43-yard score with five seconds to go. Afterward, Spurrier defended the play call, saying, "I guess they're upset about that pass. Well I called it. If there's 1:13 left, would that have been any nicer? They were padding their stats and I decided we were going to pad ours. Because ours were sufferin'. If Kentucky wants to be mad about it, we'll be up in Lexington next year, and they can do something about it then."

Back then running up the score helped your chances of playing for a national championship, ask Osborne at Nebraska..

For LSU home games we always have to ask the other team if we can wear our home whites and they will switch to their dark jerseys. As far as I know, Steve Spurrier is the only coach that ever refused that request.

Home team decides now. Was like that for a couple of years though, after Dinardo fought for the home whites.
