He would be crazy to pass on being a first-round pick.

He should have taken the NIL money.

His reason for turning it down was because he didn't want to ruin his Alabama legacy with fans, but I don't think the Alabama fans will look back at him too fondly, considering he didn't win anything.

First round picks by the Jets have done pretty well the last few years after making money from them a few seasons and then getting the frick out

Was Alabama just not willing to give him a decent offer to return?

I don't know why you were downvted. A first round pick is guaranteed a four year contract. Why risk that fo NIL for a year in which you may underperform and fall several rounds.

I thought he could go play for the Jets and then return to Bama.

He was wanting to turn pro more than he wanted to come back. He was more than welcome back to Alabama and it wasn't about the money. After his dad got all first round grades from the NFL teams his decision was made. The QB class this year is weak and there are teams needing qb's. Whereas next year, the QB class coming out is stacked compared to this year's. They made a business decision.

Yeah. Should be guaranteed a good bit of money. Never know what would happen in a year.

Depends on the NIL offer. If they were desperate I'd have them match the potential NFL offer if they could. See how far you could get them to go.

That we are having a discussion about whether a college QB should consider staying for NIL $$ and bypass a 1st round draft position is crazy.

The Jets also have the 16th pick, for what it's worth. If they are going to take him, it would be there or by trading back into the late first round. They aren't using the second pick on him.

He might as well jump to the NFL since his Alabama team is rather mediocre.

Teams like to trade into the end of the first round to pick a QB, because of the extra year of control. It's not absurd to suggest the Jets could draft him late first.

The Jets are a quarterback graveyard. They are complete dumpster fire.

Go to Miami for $6.5M or the Jets for a guaranteed 4 year, $13M-$17M. I’d go to the Jets for 4 years, then I would go to a beach somewhere for life, lol.
