It's good where it is. If they do expand, it should be 16 and not 24 fricking teams like the B1G wants. But 12 seems to be a good number.

It doesn't need to be anymore than 12.

Apparently expanding it means no more conference championships.

Good. Apparently the only way it was going to get to 16 was for the SEC to agree to go to 24 shortly thereafter.

12 is enough.

I read expanding pass 16 means no more conference championship games.

Which part? The 24 teams or the SEC having to agree to it after the fact?

I’ve said this numerous times, but I’m not sure if others agree. I’d like to 16 if it included 4 teams in each conference having their own playoff that counts towards the 16. Basically a 4 team conference playoff followed by a 4 team national playoff. Can’t win the NC without winning your conference.

ETA, and yes this would exclude G5/6 teams and independents.

As soon as this stupid new Notre Dame autobid rule leads to one of the Big Tens biggest brands getting bumped out for a Notre Dame team with a joke schedule ranked behind them they'll change their position on 16.

I think 12 is fine — but get rid of G5 automatic qualifiers. Do away with conference championship games and move it all up by one week.

If it were up to me, I’d also say get rid of the damn committee and apply the old BCS formula to get your top 12, but that makes too much sense…

From ESPN:
SEC commissioner Greg Sankey has publicly supported a 16-team model, but Big Ten commissioner Tony Petitti would agree to that only if Sankey committed to a 24-team field after three years, sources told ESPN.

I'm sorry but 24 teams are idiotic. We're slowly diluting the CFB regular season year by year.

This isn’t complicated:
•16 teams.
•No conference championship game
•No byes
•Top 5 SEC & B10 get in.
•Top 2 ACC & B12 get in.
•2 highest ranked remaining teams according to CFP get in as teams 15 & 16. (ND’s punishment for not joining a conference will be never hosting a playoff game).
•First 2 rounds are on campus of lower seed.
•Semis and Finals in a traditional bowl destination.

•All remaining B10 and SEC teams play head to head in bowls for an NIL bonus given to the winning conference players and less to the losing conference. ACC vs B12 do likewise.

•G5 can keep their championship games since they draw reasonable ratings and then do their own FCS style playoff. Stop pretending they play the same sport.
