A great hoops program that had been trash forever winning a NC in FB.

I think IU’s football history is actually worse than Duke’s

More impressive. Pretty sure they were statistically the worse program ever

Feels equivalent.. But with nil and Indiana large alumni base. They shouldn't have been as bad as they were.

That being said history is history.

I think cfb is changed for good

Those would be equivalent and are not out of the question! Indiana charges the narrative for ever team!

Indiana had 3 bowl wins coming into this year. What they did is unprecedented

For sake of comparison, Kentucky has 12 bowl wins (out of 23 bowl appearances).

Indiana didn’t have a 10 win season until 2024 under Cignetti and this season.

UK 32-25-1 vs IU in football all time.

IU hasn’t been great in basketball for a minute.

They are now a football school.

Worse than those but about the same as if Kansas went 16-0.

Before Cignetti, I always thought of Rutgers and Indiana as the two shittiest programs ever. Frigging Rutgers man.

They have been very, very bad. It is insane what he has done there. Like there better be a documentary done soon because there needs to be one. What he has done is crazy.

Cignetti found a loophole and exploited it. When these 6-7 year players are out of college football, and he has to develop his recruited talent and win with that, I might jump on the bandwagon. I don't even think he will sustain much success into next year. He caught lightning in a bottle and almost let it slip away tonight. Beck throws that last pass 12-15 yards farther and IU is just another "almost champion". His team this year is literally older than the Green Bay Packers who were a playoff team in the NFL.

Is it more impressive though in the purchasing wins era?

Yes, NIL has changed the script.

Indiana is the largest university in the country.

More comparable to UCLA winning it.

Purdue too a lesser degree...

massive alumni bases + historically more focused on basketball.

Indiana cares about basketball mainly..I have a ton of family in Jeffersonvile Indiana and Louisville Kentucky. They only talk about CBB there, it is the opposite of what most Southern schools do(besides Duke and UNC).
