Beat a modern college team

Any NFL team from the late 1960s up would dominate any college team you can think of.

I'll take the 1975 Steelers for 2000 Alex

Whose rules are you going to play by?
If the 70s, then the 70s NFL team will win and it won't be close. The modern team would all be injured by the 2nd half.
If modern day, the 70s NFL team will probably all be thrown out for penalties before the 2nd half.
I don't think many people really grasp how much the sport has changed in the past 50 years. Hell, I might have been great by modern day rules, instead I was the little guy hoping not to get killed. We played to hurt people, because injuries heal. Not trying to break legs or anything, but constantly getting in hits and hurting them like body blows in boxing.
Most of that shite is a penalty these days. Drive into the QB as you take him down = the way when I was young. Today = penalty. etc.

Why is this being downvoted....as if monsters like Jim Brown wasn't playing in the 60s. He would truck any modern linebacker

Defense had not evolved to defend the spread and the current college teams are bigger at every position.
The ball would come out so fast on the college's perimeter screen game that bubble screens would score every third play....if the nfl teams could come up with a way to line up to the formations that they've never seen.
It would be a joke.

This is an important distinction. Even if you leave out the brutal hits, PI was basically non existent. You could push people way down field. The 5 yard rule wasn’t implemented until 1978.
And before 78 offense linemen couldn’t even extend their arms to block and couldn’t use open hands to block.

A very bad NFL team would dominate the 01 Hurricanes. 05 USC, or the Burrow led LSU team easily.

If they're allowed to play by 70's rules, there'd be no modern team left by halftime

This is the correct Answer….. also I don’t care what you think of today’s game….. back then they were cut from a different cloth…. In other words… Dont frick with the old man.

A GOAT level college team of recent years would beat any NFL team from the ‘70s.
Bigger, faster, stronger, and a hell of a lot more advanced schematically.

Even the narrower NFL hash marks limit which college offenses translate to the NFL.

Today's players in college are twice the size and speed than 70's NFL roster

They would destroy a modern college team, especially if they play by 1970’s rules. They could pile drive a QB back then.

We all appreciate the toughness of those old players but they couldn’t match the size, strength, athleticism and schemes of today’s football. Modern lines would outweigh their 70’s counterparts by 50 lbs or more and overall speed is probably a lot faster.
