How is Ole Miss #4 in portal rankings?

I realize their players aren’t the brightest and it may take a while to catch on, but haven’t they gotten the memo yet?
Lane is gone.
Lane is gone.

I think OM is getting credit for overpaying to keep their own players.

Good talent evaluation services, like On3, look at both incoming AND outgoing talent. The fact is that Ole Miss has retained a bunch of players and this helps their ranking.

Huh. If anything we might not be offering as much as we could/should. We lost a good player to the portal just this week by sticking to our valuation of the player instead of offering what some other schools were.
You might say we are paying Lacy more than what we’d pay for a RB with similar YPG and YPC stats. But he brings a lot more value to us than just those stats. Other than him, I don’t think we are overpaying any players by much if any.

Lane is so good at recruiting that none of his players followed him to lsu except a backup WR

Eh don’t go overboard. Lane has done a great job without them. But yes Ole Miss has done a fine job sticking to their guns as well.

Based on 24/7 which DOESN'T look at what talent you've LOST to the portal..
Lsu ranks high on these because they are +1 5* and +3 4* players. However they are like -10 or -12 3* players. Everyone who watched CFB for more than 5 mins knows that it's the development of those 3* players that really makes or breaks a roster.
So congrats to lsu for grabbing some big time names out of the portal, but that's not the end all-be all of this game (like who's gonna play oline??)

OM doesn’t give Lane credit. He not only lended his coaches, but he also decided to not tamper with OM’s roster, allowing them to keep Lacy as well.

Why do you care about Ole Miss?

Don't think that is how it works. BUT Josiah Thompson, Jalewis Solomon and Caden Durham say hey...
247 has them at #2 today. ON3 has them at 7, with LSU at 17.

The delusion is strong with LSU fans. Currently you're 17th on On3.
And if you look at that graphic, the problem is this. You've gained NIL value, which seems good on the surface, but you've done that while LOSING players. That means you've paid a lot for a few big names and depleted funds for the rest of the roster. That is NOT a good situation.

They can’t understand what you’re saying.

100%. If you look at On3's player valuations, basically, this comes down to Leavitt's valuation vs Nussmeier's valuation. Leavitt's valuation is $3.1 Million. Nuss' was $1.7 million. Right there is the bulk of the increase for LSU's nil valuation. But in order to pay the $1.4 million increase for Leavitt, you have to make that up somewhere. That comes from the bread and butter players that REALLY matter to the roster...
That's an awful lot of extra expenditures for a school that's paying two ex coaches, and gave a massive rise to their NEW head coach.
It's good for creating short term buzz, but it's likely unstainable in the long run.

But, but, I was told that tDecline was imminent! There's no way Ole Miss can have a top 14 overall class and a top 2 transfer portal class (according to 247sports)! Lane left, remember??
