I do not have a good feeling at all about our athletic department. Apparently we really don’t have the money. that some thought we did. I don’t like the way people are leaving and don’t see much coming in. In football and basketball I don’t see a fire in anyone’s eyes this year will be a true test for Bama. I have always felt that the third year is a real telling sign. Talk me off the ledge if you can.

Get off the ledge bro.

I've been told Byrne is going to start passing around a collection plate, like they do at church, at all Bama games to help with NIL.

Well, we have money but the collective is very middling and for Bama to get the best players out of the portal, being a middling program isn’t gonna get it.

Seems to me Greg Byrne needs to re-direct some of the big donor money to the NIL. Not sure it’ll be enough but would be start.

If you're so worried, then donate your entire savings to our NIL fund.

Otherwise, just sit back like me and try to enjoy the utter shitshow that is college athletics now.

Deboer is the master at doing more with less. He beat lanning and sark with teams full of rejects. He has taken out the high rated trash over the past 2 years and is paving the way to repeat his success at uw.
This year he will have his qb, his style o line and the defense will be an immovable force. He has remade the team in his image and you will see the fruits this year.

I want you to be right.

Maybe pivot to the Cignetti way and get some mature/experienced players, even if they don't have the requisite "stars."

Speaking strictly for football, you have good reason to be concerned. I believe Deboer and Bryne both do not have a grasp on the reality of the situation. And all I see is crusty band--aids and uncomfortable silence on the problems.

As for BB, based on our money and facilities, overall Oats is about as good as we are going to get and exceeds expectations from time to time so I can live with him.

Nate is one of the best coaches in the country. Glad to hear he has Shocco's lukewarm approval.

We tied up a lot of money on top notch facilities and equipment, which used to be big selling points in recruiting. Unfortunately, those things are little help anymore, the players are chasing the short term money.
Any players that we recruit who turn out to be exceptional will be poached the following year (or after such time as it takes for us to make them valuable). It's dismal. It's pretty much build a new team every year, only count on each player being here for a year.

There’s positivity, and then we have delusion. This is the latter.

I wasn’t meaning to get rid of any coach. I feel good about both coaches. It’s the type of players we’re bringing in that don’t seem to mind when they lose.

They get paid the same regardless of the outcome. I’m sure a lot of them would rather the season just be over and not have to play the SEC title game and the playoffs. That could end up being another 4-5 games you’d have to play while making the same money.

Cynical take for sure, but I’m sure some are looking at it this way.

You’re right but wrong in some aspects. One thing you’re not wrong at is, we are one of the few schools that does not have a billionaire alumnus.

I went to the Michigan bama game at the rose bowl a couple of years ago, and after they showed Namath, Mark Ingram, Derrick Henry, Saban, etc.. on the jumbo tron…

They showed Larry Page, CEO of Google, Larry Ellison and His wife CEO of Oracle, Tom gores the owner of the Pistons, The guy who owns rocket mortgage.

They showed like 10 billionaire alumni. They showed Zero football players.

I looked at our friends and said… we’re fricked

The good news is, we are not alone: these don’t either. But they do have mega millionaires that contribute

I can see ncaa splitting. Ellison went to Illinois and Oracle is about to get hit like other tech companies in this economy.

We just have to wait until the end of the 2026 season. Hopefully Kalen is the guy. He has to get to 8-4.

Ease back on your throttle.
