Dear diary, I think I’m over college football. I’m a mid tier booster at UGA. Spent more than I probably should have since I graduated and watched football every Saturday for 30 years(some of you have seen my melts lol).
What has me at the “I don’t give a shite” point is our 1st string rb threatening to go to Ohio state.
Individually I don’t really care about his decision but this system is so broken.
I’d love to go back to giving guys 10k in a McDonald’s bag.
Rant over.

College football is in a death spiral. It’s being saved by new interests from historically struggling teams.
Unlimited transfers
Unlimited legal bribes
It’s become the most unregulated business in the world.

Like a blueblood, complaining about the current system, because UGA loses players in portal. Talent is being spread out now. Hahahahahaha

Not suprised SEC fans are giving up....the new system made Saban tap out and quit. I give Kirby credit....he has the balls to try and compete against it even when losing to teams like Notre Dame and Ole Miss in the playoffs these days. SEC has suffered the most with this new way of doing things and aint going to go back to the good ole days.

I think the balance of power has clearly shifted north. Seeing fricking mark Cuban celebrating was the giant red flag to me. My 20k a year or whatever lol. Where’s our billionaire?

I’m a mid tier booster at UGA.
Why would you do that anyway? No tax write offs or recognition….

I didn’t mean it that way at all. More about the context and I actually feel like a fool for being part of this.

Just so he can transfer to one of the bluest of blue bloods in Ohio State?
He’s going from a Ferrari to a Porsche.

The same teams winning every year is what they want. Now that there is parity, they give the absurd rants bc anyone can win it.
Georgia with 20 5 stars was so fun for them, but now that the talent goes everywhere, it’s a crap system for blue bloods.

I'm about done after watching Miami left tackle strangle hold a DE, bringing him and holding him to a complete standstill right in front of the back judge who didnt want to be bothered.
A huge play that would have made it 2nd and 20 instead of a first down in the last 90 seconds of the game.

quote:I feel it, the game has changed. I read somewhere that ~70ish percent of players on the UGA roster were developed and not from the portal. Any truth to this and should Kirby adapt to the portal for incoming talent? Is he built for that since he’s so close to the Saban way of doing things?
I didn’t mean it that way at all. More about the context and I actually feel like a fool for being part of this.
And realistically, what are levers for portal retention, like maybe splitting out a lump sum deal over a few years? Are contracts available for that or are things still murky?

It may sound good for you but every player that looks good for one year will run somewhere big and you'll never keep a group of quality players on one of your teams.

If Saban was still coaching they would still be in the CFP and stomping ND.

Well I wanted to invest in my school and it’s at least coded as a donation tax-wise. I also got a brick with my name on it. lol.
