Let me get this straight. Ole Miss was planning on having Austin Simmons be their qb, he gets hurt, and Trinidad takes over and they are where they are.
Just a quick glance at his stats and it looks like we have another Pribula type of situation for next year.
What's your guys opinion of this move? Right now it looks like Eli's putting Simmons vs Zollers, which looks like the battle of the back ups.

Not gonna lie, I'm kinda hoping Trinidad gets some serious leg cramps throughout the Miami game and our boy comes up to bat a few times.

Unimpressed. A battle of QB2s for the QB1 spot all with deficiencies. They all share an insane lack of on field game action and Zollers, at least at the collegiate level, now has more time in the backfield than Simmons does.
Both turn the ball over. But at least Zollers was playing P4 schools when he did. Simmons was throwing picks against… checks notes: Citadel, Georgia State (they went 1-11 and gave up 38/game before anyone gets excited by Simmons 300+ yards and 2TDs. ) and was lucky not to kill their playoff dreams early by a poor UK performance with two picks.
Slow and loopy windup from what I saw on highlights. Rare Kiffin miss I guess. Chambliss has shown to be an improv QB with a quick release.

We're a boundary passing team with limited understanding of running a functional passing offense ... discount-store academy offense ...
QB doesn't matter in Drink's scheme unless the QB knows how to run. Especially on 4th and short plays where the QB run is a premium play call.
Yes, I'm jaded and don't see the excitement that the figs like Gabe, RockM, etc. are cheering on ...
Chip Lindsey and Simmons are perfect fits for Drink's lack of offensive creativity.
At least we have basketball ... oops.

Yea. Six years of shite passing has left me permanently jaded. I can’t get excited about QBs anymore because Eli has zero history.
My seasonal expectations going forward will have to be basement level until I’m proven otherwise.

Is this going to be another disappointed season?

If Austin becomes the starter, in this offense where the qb will be required to run, I just hope he can survive a full season. By October we'll have Zollers play clean up. I hope not though, we play Ole Miss on October 17th.

We tried slow and loopy release with that hyped transfer from Clemson back when Odom was coaching.
Slow will not work in the SEC.
Let's not do that again.

Maybe he can bang our TEs girlfriend.

I do not see where he has been officially been transferred to Missouri. Are the experts saying he is a lock to be at Mizzou?

Unless Lindsey can get him throwing it open instead of needing to see it open, he is going to turn it over at an unacceptable rate. Teams will take away the outside throws and make him throw to the condensed part of the field. His throwing motion doesn't allow for a lot of touch on throws. He jams it in to the receivers and if it isnt on their body its going to lead to tipped balls and picks. When you already have one QB that needs to be developed, it doesn't make sense to add another. But Im "regularly completely wrong" so....

I watched Austin's highlights and lowlights yesterday and here's what I took away:
1 - Much more physically gifted than we've had in the past few years.
2 - The Ole Miss team around him was obviously better and the playcalls infinitely better.
3 - His throws to the middle of the field with his tight end were excellent. I want to see more of that here.
4 - I didn't realize he's graduated already. He's a smart kid.
The not so good - interceptions and only playing good against Georgia (once) and the rest was against below average competition.
I don't think he can be worse than Beau Pribula.

Looks like Zoelers job to lose. So Simmons would be a good backup. That is a must nowadays.

I have lost all faith in "Rankings".
Not that I had much to begin with.
