before NIL sure. Now that its pro football probably not

No. After Nick’s last game, the players wanted to know about future playing time and money.
Loyalty to a program is waning rapidly. Sure, there will always be some Bama kids who want to stay in-state and play for the Tide, but the culture of the sport has changed for the worse.
Show me the money!

Saban quit because he knew he and Byrne had let the LANK/STANK get a foothold.

How odd is it LANK/STANK you hate so much was a coupled bad snaps and a fumble away from winning a national championship?

That was just a semifinals game.

Semi's, not the final.
Still not an excuse. Look where we are now.

And I get flamed when I say this but think the changes in the culture are going to impact us more than other major programs in the long run because the mystique and tradition of Bama have been major factors in our success.

We can all blame NIL and such for our culture disappearing but the big issue is that DeBoer’s fosters a culture that doesn’t seem to handle prosperity well. Whether it be game to game or series to series. As soon as we start feeling good or find success, we seem to get complacent.

Did you not watch the last couple of Saban teams?
We had stupid penalty after stupid penalty. Saban said our team had performance anxiety. We struggled to beat South Florida and Auburn. Got beat as a large favorite at home by Texas.
This ain’t a DeBoer issue alone.

Yes the point was if we beat Michigan we would have walked over Washington as Michigan had done.
It's wild it has to be explained that Alabama-Michigan game was the actual NCG, the winner of it was going to easily win the title.

Wrong, as usual.
Actually I was right again (you would actually have to think deeper to understand) and you're still very consumed by my existance being very unhappy, angry and completely eaten up.. so everything is still right in the world as intended

How many times were we blown out?
Posted on 1/2/26 at 2:41 pm to FairhopeTider
How many times has everyone other than Saban been blown out?…
Kirby, Lanning, Urban Meyer, Kiffin, and everyone else this board slobbers over have all been blown out.
What Saban did was unprecedented. Get used to it, you’re not getting another Saban through that door.

And there it is. The slide into complacency is complete. We should be ok with our team straight up quitting on the biggest stages.

What happened yesterday was NOT ACCEPTABLE, period, end of discussion.
But if it’s “sliding into complacency” to accept the reality that 2007-23 was a moment in time that cannot be replicated, not even by the man who was in charge of the program during those years, in the current landscape of college football, which is 180 degrees different than the landscape two years ago and isn’t changing back, then this fan base is going to be at each other’s throats from now on.

I get what you’re saying about 2007–23 being a one of kind era. The sport has changed fast with the portal, NIL, and roster churn, and it is not going back.
But not expecting to be blown out and quit is not nostalgia. It is a baseline standard. The amount of times that has happened in the last 30+ years is in the single digits and 3 of them have now occurred under our $10 million coach and it’s happened on stages where we usually take great pride in excelling: championship stages
We aren’t demanding Saban-era invincibility. We are asking for two things that should translate in any era: compete on the biggest stages and do not quit.
Losing happens. Getting overwhelmed, unprepared, or unraveling when it matters most is not “the landscape.” That is identity.
So yes, reset expectations on outcomes but like hell do we not reset expectations on effort, toughness, and composure. I’ve come to terms with accepting that the “standard” is lowered but a majority of Alabama fans do not, will not, and should not, accept looking like you do not belong. That’s what happened in two of the last three games.

We are in 100% agreement.
Everyone has been going around in circles for nearly 24 hours but there are just five words that need to be said: What happened yesterday was unacceptable.
Kalen DeBoer needs to understand that.
Greg Byrne needs to understand that.
